Republic or Expressjet Offer

If you've been offered an E170 class, it means you are the absolute elite.
Take the class and never look back. You will be a captain in NO time. That's what happened in 2006 and it will happen again.
Like awesome times for everyone. Right guys??? Right?

Why the heck did you do a foolish thing like that? Cause you want to sit in a shiny jet instead? Now the two months you gave up, you just let about 150 people in seniority go in front of you cause you want to fly a nice looking jet. NEWS FLASH! Its all same pay at RAH! Get in first chance and get the quicker upgrade. those 150 numbers could have you sit in right seat perpetuity if there is a national economic burp and things go to a screeching halt, and all those who took your Q class will be left seat.

To the OP. I'd take Republic out of those two choices. I've heard reserve is longer than a year at ExpressJet. With 50 new 175's going to RAH shortly and less than 1 month reserve time it should make for an easy choice. Upgrade time will drop and the new contract will arrive by the end of the year.

Been on the ERJ side at XJT for over a year and a half and still on reserve in ORD. Our future is shaky (whose isn't?), but I can say with confidence that our contract is better than the average regional. Full cancellation pay, ability for reserves to pick up certain open time, 100% DH pay to name a few. Attrition is picking up and we've announced that we're gonna hire 32 a month for the remainder of the year to keep up with attrition and staff for FT/DT. So, for what that's worth, you shouldn't be on reserve for too long.
If you're looking for a quick upgrade and are willing to take the financial and mental beating, then I'd probably take the class at Republic. I'm not there though, I don't really know how bad it is. I'm sure XJT will get some additional flying in the future, but based on what I see right now, Republic is probably the place to go if you're looking for a place with growth and a quick upgrade opportunity.
