Republic or Expressjet Offer

Go to the place that offers you the job first. It is foolish to stand around waiting for your "dream" regional to call when you could be working/gaining experience/seniority. They are regional airlines and they all suck! If you started class today, you've still got a few years before you will max out at FO pay. A lot can happen in those years, bases, pay, aircraft, and schedules can all change. Good luck in your decision, I hope it works out for you.

Yea because the 50 seater is what all the majors want us contractors to be flying. LOL enjoy that super pay for your 50 seater as they get sent to the desert. Make no mistake regionals will shrink just as the majors have. Anyone who actually thinks your company will need the same number of pilots in the future as they do today is a fool. That goes for any regional with 50 seaters btw

lol, because Skywest inc hasn't already signed a replacement plan for our aircraft that keeps all of our XRs around and replaces the rest with 70 seaters. Sure we will have less aircraft and less pilots, but it will be around 25% less after the new rest rules kick in. I guarentee you more than 50% of our current pilot group will be gone before those effects are fully seen. You seem to be in the know there champ, care to share any inside info? There will be many less 50 seaters in the future no doubt about that, but we are the only ones with the XR and that is another ball game. 50 pax, 2 jumpseaters, and 80+ bags 1500 miles every time. Like I said, the rest will be gone. With 105 XRs and a 1:2 replacement on the rest, that puts us at around 180 aircraft, down from 240. With the new rest rules and crazy attrition that will continue to increase, I don't think any prespective new hire will have any trouble coming here, getting the time with some good QOL, and then moving on. I'm not planning on being here forever by any means, but I think anyone who is a part of Skywest inc will be around in some capacity for quite some time.
And you think Unical Holdings would rather pay full price on a lease for an E145 that can take 50 pax most of the time instead of renegotiating to a dirt cheap lease on a ratty old CRJ that can carry 47?

I'm looking for some insight & help from current or Ex Republic and Expressjet pilots in making a decision between two job offers. I have been offered a E170 class with Republic and a E145 class with Expressjet in June... I have done alot of research on both sides and see both the good and bad in both. I have friends that work for Expressjet who swear by the company; however, I don't know anyone at Republic... There are domiciles at both companies that I'm willing to move to, but Republic has more favorable choices for me... My friends at Express have told me that reserve time is running well over a year and Republic indicated a few week to a few months depending upon the base for the E170....
Any insights would be greatly appriciated....

Take a look at both companies, compare pay, contract, QOL, etc, then make your decision. Just don't go to one over the other based on number of lavs on the airplane and where the engines are in relation to the wings!
I personally wouldn't touch RAH for all the tea in China!

Yes I do. They want all the CR2s gone even before the oldest EMBs. I think even those who fly them consistantly will agree that they are definitely not very reliable and can't carry much of anything if they have to take on even a little fuel for weather. Look, I'm not saying XJT is the end all be all, I'm just saying the sky isn't falling as rapidly as some on here try to sell.

No regional has had much trouble at all filling classes. Everyone wants it so bad but there will never be a shortage. The good news is that anyone who wants to move on to better things will have the chance to do so. The super senior guys that refuse to leave are going to be the ones that choke the regionals into much smaller entities.

Honestly from a pure frontline culture aspect.. It's my last month at Xjet.. And the people here I have worked with are amazing! I've learned so much not only from our training department (which I could not say more wonderful things about) to our captains! For me it has been an amazing experience!

The XR is a far superior product lift wise no denying that. As far as comfort goes, well it is still a stretched brasillia need we say more? Your post simply confirms that the "pilot shortage" is nothing more than a fraud. There are plenty of planes to send to victorville and it is not hard at all to right seat qualify captains on the off chance things get tight. The majors can pick and choose who they want from the regionals. All the "stories" about people not showing up for class are simply shams.
