Airline recruiting departments use this "We plan on hiring x number of pilots next year" as a way to boost morale and attract new hires. The number is completely bogas. "But my friends, uncles, cousins, son-in-law is a manager there, so they know the numbers" ...Airline managers lie, a lot. (e.g. Eagle announced they were going to hire 800 pilots in 2012, they furloughed 70) Actions speak loader than words, Eagle is losing flying and has zero prospects for replacing aging 50 seaters. Republic just announced a major aircraft order and is looking at rapid expansion over the next 5 years.

If you are making major career decisions based on what you read on this site, you are mistaken. Read the Wall Street Journal, and analysts forecasts and stock projections, these are the real benchmarks for which to make a decision.

RAH is a terrible place to work, but its better than going to the next "wholly-owned regional" thats going to shut down.
Actually it was 600 for 2012. But what happened? AMR went bankrupt and they furlough 70 to get us scared...

We are short on captains. Yes we lost planes but people are leaving also for other places.

Republic flying is addition to our current flying. They might be taking flying from AA also.

Didn't they displace CAs to FO a few months ago?

They hired 400ish in 2011. The music stopped in Dec 5, 2011. No new hire until November 2012.

actually from amr and the ORD LEC REP eagle crj flying in ord will be replaced by RAH 175's. AA told the judge last week Eagle will have 80% of the 50 seat flying in ORD. So that means CRJ's and E140's gone, bye bye baby. That makes the ord base 1/3 the size it is today in 12 months. More good news to come.

So what is going to happen to the CRJs? The company has told us that the E135s and ATR are gone by the end of 2013, in the 4th QT of 2013 they will start returning E140s and replacing them with larger RJs. They are not giving the specific on large RJs, they just say that they are coming (I know, I know). In this document they also said that AE will be the largest operator, the company has said that it will stink in 2013 and start replacing airframes in 2014. Expect it to continue to be doom and gloom for the near future as they look to help the senior guys make the decision about flowing.

How many CAs have been downgraded?

And how many FOs have completed training since AMR filled?

they have hired somewhere between 75-100 in the last 6 months, they displaced a total of around 90 back to FO but half didn't/haven't made it back to the right seat... it keeps getting pushed back
