Reap what you sow.... I know many are on the list who weren't even close to working at RAH back then, but let it be a lesson moving forward. The 1000TPIC is no guarantee of a job at a major.

Republic just got awarded eagle's flying. So if anything rah looks to have better outlook than eagle. Then again you never know in this industry. My best advice for the new guys, apply everywhere then decide. Skywest may want 100 multi now but that'll change soon. Apply there anyways.

Shuttle America was an entirely different company and seniority list back in 2003 and Republic didn't exist yet. Chautauqua back then was a very different place then it is today. They had nothing bigger than 50 seats and most of the pilots believed it was going to remain that way. Bedford wanted Republic to be an alter-ego airline (think GoJets or Freedom A-list) so the chq pilots were fighting that fight. This was also the first non-concessionary post 9/11 contract signed.

I know the contract is considered bad by today's standard, but back in 2003 it was a big improvement for that pilot group. I don't think they signed it because of SJS syndrome or because they were chasing a quick upgrade. Most of the blame for the current working conditions lies with the RLA, not the pilot group from 10 years ago.

Anyways, Republic and Eagle, which would be a better move this month? If given an option which out of the two would you try to get into and why?

Thank you
Go to Eagle. Hands down. I worked for both but in the interest of full disclosure 22 months with Eagle and 5 weeks with RAH. IF this is your first 121 gig you won't know the difference but from someone who does know, go with Eagle. Night and day difference.

You have experience at both or is it a case of "my regional is better than your regional?"

I'm stuck between these two companies at the moment. Leaning toward Eagle though. Would you mind elaborating a bit why you feel this way? Thanks.

SkyWest currently has too many pilots from what I hear. Would they really lower their multi min to 50 hour?

Also as a former Eagle (now RAH) why would you say Eagle? Why did you leave Eagle in the first place? I think we all understand Eagle has a better contract/pay/reserve rules/bases/a lot of things, but didn't Comair have all that stuff too? and Pinnacle? Republic sucks to work for, the bases are horrible, the pay is bad, and the company treats the pilots like garbage. But when choosing which airline you want to work for, you should look at it from a business stand point, which one of these crappy regionals will still be in business by the time you want that shiny major job? CEO's across the industry have said they want to get away from the 50 seat flying (because they aren't good for business) and start using more "Large-RJs". Which companies have almost exclusively 50 seaters? Comair*, Pinnicle, Eagle, PSA, and Air Whiskey. Which companies have "Large RJs"? Skywest, Compass, GoJetz (ew), and Republic. Go to a place that will continue to get new flying so you can move up and out.
Also my 2 cents...I blame the RLA and for our horrible contract, and the bad working conditions we all have in general. Eagle will not be an airline in 5 years. And the Indians are going to win the World Series next year.
Dorn. Out.

Don't come to RAH... It sucks here. Besides, every open seat in a new hire class is one step
Closer to forcing our management to the table.
