I don't know what the effective merger dates and all that crap are exactly (for exact snapshot numbers) ..I don't know if it's based off today or some approval date in the future.

Who knows if this protection is actually worth anything in the real world and if will hold up in court.. but it IS in our contract now so it's better than not having it I guess. They may not be able to just do some mass parking of our aircraft in the future anymore, other than what they can do with attrition losses. Something to think about anyway..
In the scheme of things, it's essentially meaningless. Looking at the renegotiation specifics for the smaller EMB's coupled with a steady, but gradual replacement schedule of larger aircraft for other carriers and your current 300 pilot/year attirition (not including AA flows or possible increases due to major carriers hiring or just general ejection-handle activation), this carrier could easily shrink to 2,000 pilots or to virtually whatever smaller number is needed over the next several years. The transition to streamlining regionals and redefining roles will be a gradual process also taking at least a couple of years just like the merger of the core mainline operations.

That being said, I still don't think this carrier will disappear and will likely get some larger aircraft (probably more CRJ-700's and some 900's), but be just another provider of feed and not the "preferred" provider. The question is HOW much of the future pie this carrier will get and what, if any consolidation occurs in the future among AA regional players, including this one. I'm sure all the affected regional unions are powowing regarding ensuring they have as many chairs as possible when the music stops as going forward there are more dancing pilots then chairs.

the deal supposedly with Embraer is a 2 for 1. For now we are returning 2 E135's per month and the only person to get E175's is RAH and supposedly one more other carrier. Now are our (former) emb's subsidizing the RAH aircraft?

Remember these were our aircraft until the mec waived our rights to transfer with the aircraft, amr just took them. They still have not paid eagle for the aircraft.

prior to mec change this was definition of company aircraft----a. “Company aircraft” means all aircraft owned or leased by the Company, or of which the Company otherwise has operational control.

now the new wording---All flying performed on aircraft operated under an FAA operating certificate issued to the Company (hereafter, “Company aircraft”) in its scheduled airline service will be performed by Company pilots in
accordance with this Agreement.

Never say no to a job offer if that is all you have. If you do not take the 5000, you do not have to sign a 2 year commitment and if offered a job elsewhere where you believe would be better then you resign here and move on.

Republic is buying their own planes by themselves.

Flying a plane, making good money. Nothing bright in the future tho.. I need to get a little more 121 time to go to the majors.

I'll sign the contract. The money will help get through year one. I plan on staying until a major picks me up. Which probably wont be for a few years, But who knows.

If you can go back in case of furlough, you should have no problem. But I don't see eagle furloughing people, Danny G knows that there are not a lot of pilots out there in the long run.

Boy does this thread have me scared sh*tless about going to Republic. I am about to submit my two weeks notice at Pinnacle.

I have been at pinnacle now for over 5 years and I know that I will be furloughed eventually. Seniority List integration was a not a pretty event for me, leaving me only couple hundred numbers from furlough. Before being furlughed I will be doing an impossible commute up to DTW along with hundreds of other pilots at pinnacle.

I also worked for a few years at eagle before going to pinnacle. Looking back, Eagle was about 10 times better a place to work for than pinnacle, and I am sure it is also much much better than RAH. I say that even being on reserve with eagle for almost 2 years and sitting endless ready reserve.

Even with the 5k hiring bonus at RAH, I will be making at least 8000 dollars less per year (about 25k pretax) than continuing the grind at Pinnacle. And that is even after pinnacle took paycuts.

Honestly I have no idea what to do. Every desicion I make normally turns out to be the worst one ever. I would like to go back to Eagle, however, I know that would rule out any opportunity to go to American in the future. I hate to force myself to take a job for almost no pay, yet again, but it will be better than being furloughed I suppose. I am only hoping that I wont be on RSV forever with republic, but with my luck I probably will be.
