These guys all upgraded in approximately 2 years and never spent more than a couple months on reserve. They've never worked a holiday, a weekend, etc.
Meanwhile I'm a 6 year FO and still not able to hold an upgrade..... making $36.62 an hour, making less take home pay every year.
I get it, this industry is about luck. And I thank my stars I didn't get hired 6 months later, but the senior CAs get paid fairly, but only at the expense of the FOs.
Our competitive labor costs are attained by the subjugation of the FOs.

I was talking to a systems instructor at Republic and he said they need 20 to 30 per class... last class he taught 7 showed out of the 20 they expected... So I would say yes they do have a problem, even if ATP instructors are foolish enough to pay 60K to work there.
When you talk to a flight instructor they talk about which major they're gonna work for, you talk to a 6 regional FO and they talk about what they're gonna do after they quit flying.

I just interviewed with republic last week. There were 15 or so of us and from what I hear they run 3 interview sessions per week. I was shocked to see so many people there after reading what I have on these boards. None of us were former FO's at pinnacle or any other regional. Lesson here is there are a LOT of flight instructors out there with 1400 hours.
In case you were wondering I was offered the job and turned it down. They said they wanted to raise starting pay to $30/hr for FO's and up from there but the union wouldn't let them. In the next breath they said $1600 for 8 weeks of training ($800/mo) and shared hotel room. I'm pretty sure the union didn't keep them from giving us our own room in training.... Really turned me off.

And yes. They have PLENTY of people applying for now. With the signing bonus and awarded flying for AA, I suspect they will have plenty of applicants for some time, short term.
