Not all Captains had a quick upgrade, not all FO's had a long run on the right seat. It is all about time and hitting the right spot. I am grateful to have a job, yeah the pay sucks and I wish it were different. But I depend on an Union to negotiate my pay and hope I can get a better job soon as I have lost hope in the process...

"Double occupancy sucks, and I didn't want to take the job."

"Not getting cancellation pay sucks"

"I think I'd like to fund a retirement eventually."

"Some job security would be nice, instead of this endless whipsaw."

There are a long list of BS things that are foisted upon us in this industry. I would like to see most of them either reduced, or disappear. For that to happen, people are going to have to do exactly what the poster you have criticized has done: Refuse a job offer on the grounds of undesirable pay or working conditions.
We will make leaps of progress in this industry when we applaud people for having enough self-respect to require higher standards regarding working conditions and/or compensation. This nonsense of telling people to "man-up" and whatnot does nothing but mount peer pressure in the direction of worsening conditions for all of us.

Y'all need to quit talking down to people when they actually turn up their nose at the BS that goes on in this industry, if you actually want it to improve someday. Is that how you reply to everyone who states their reasons for declining a sub-par job offer?

Ok, just so it's clear, I just got out of the AF so I have plenty of experience with "double occupancy". I didnt mind it because it was for a better reason than lining some fat cat's wallet. (Also I was paid more than $800/mo to do it.)
That being said, how did you know I squat when I pee?
