Many numbers have been thrown around, one is the so called Furlough protection we have at Eagle (to me not worth much) but it calls for roughly 2100 pilots on property. So that would mean around 225 airplanes on property. After you park the 21 E135 we will be down to around this number. Currently AMR is allowed to outsource around 310 RJs.

SKW = 25 ish
RAH = 65 ish
Eagle = 225 ish

So that would give AMR around 310 ish airplanes, RJ's are tied up to 65% of the NB mainline fleet.

Another number being said is that the current Eagle will do 60 to 70 % of the AMR feed so that would mean that AMR will outsource to other regionals between 95 to 125 RJs with the current NB fleet. Eagle per our current contract (we know how well those work for us pilots) is guaranteed around 70% of the current AMR flying. If AA doesn't grow the mainline then they will be maxed out on RJs after the completion of the RAH purchase in 2015.

I don't drink the cool aid, this is what we in writing now (but understand the tendencies of airlines to void them and work deals with unions). Much can change with the merger but the Eagle contract remains in effect, but again we must stay tuned and see what they do. It's a bad day for pilots as more jobs are shifted to the lower compensating airlines, a good day for RAH as they see growth and a bad day for Eagle since we will all be affected by this.

Well, the guys who sign off on short term thinking at the majors and who approve contracts with huge scope concessions are the reason this continues.

Q: How will this agreement affect Eagle’s current operations and service?

Although American is still finalizing its schedule plans with the Republic aircraft, we anticipate a substantial portion of the Republic aircraft will serve American’s Chicago O’Hare hub. As a result, this will likely result in longer-term redeployment of Eagle aircraft to different parts of the American network.

This announcement to diversify feed is consistent with American’s business plan. Eagle is on track to retain the flying in our current business plan, which projects the replacement of our smaller jets with larger equipment. We are working closely with American and the aircraft manufacturers to put together a comprehensive plan to access large regional aircraft.

Q: Does this affect Eagle’s current hiring activities?

No, we will continue our current recruiting and hiring efforts.

***In other words we don't know!
Large Regional Aircraft. Is this not an oxymoron?

Once these requirements are met, no further technical or HR interview will be required, as long there are no changes to your driving record / background check. You will simply report to Republic for new hire training in the 70-110 seat E170/175, the 74 seat Q400, or the E135/140/145.
70-110 seat E175? Great reporting as usual.

Republic, American sign long-term CPA
Republic to acquire 53 Embraer E175 jet aircraft
Republic Airways today announced that it has reached an agreement with American Airlines to operate 53 Embraer E175 aircraft under the American Eagle brand. The Capacity Purchase Agreement (CPA) will be operated by Republic Airlines, with service expected to start in June of 2013. The CPA is subject to approval by the Bankruptcy Court in the American Airlines bankruptcy proceedings.
"We are thrilled that American has selected Republic and the Embraer E175 to expand their network with large regional jets," said Republic CEO Bryan Bedford. "The Embraer E175 is an outstanding aircraft and the interior design American has selected will provide a world-class, seamless product for their customers flying on Republic."
“Establishing a large regional jet fleet has long been part of our business plan,” said Chuck Schubert, American’s vice president – Network Planning, “and this agreement is another example of how we are executing on that plan in a way that benefits our business and our customers.”
Republic also signed an agreement with Embraer to purchase 47 new aircraft and lease a previously owned Embraer E175 jet aircraft, including the first deliveries of Embraer’s enhanced fuel performance aircraft. In addition, the Company will acquire five previously owned E175s from a third party.
The aircraft, which will seat 76 passengers in a two-class cabin, are expected to be phased into operation at approximately two to three aircraft per month beginning in mid-2013 through the first quarter of 2015. Each aircraft will operate under the CPA for 12 years from its in-service date, extending the term of the agreement into 2027.
Republic’s contract with Embraer also includes an option with delivery positions exercisable beginning in 2015, for the purchase of an additional 47 aircraft.
“It is significant that our long-time, valued customer Republic Airways – a true pioneer in the regional transport business – is the first customer for the enhanced E175,” said Paulo Cesar Silva, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. “It’s a perfect example of how our investments in product development make our customers more competitive in their markets.”

ATP thing isn't going to solve staffing problems. This is a train wreck waiting to happen.
