DO NOT DO NOT come to RAH!! First off, I am not a guy who had delusions of grandeur after flight instructing. I spent 20 years in the military, saw my fair share of crap but nothing compares to how bad this place is. Management is horrible, they can't plan anything, only react. The people in schedules are incompetent. If you enjoy just sitting in a crashpad, or a hotel, as the bases you go to crashpads or hard to come by, and like to NOT fly, then come here. The reserve rules suck, you will never fly, and they will F*&K you whenever they can. I got a whooping 18 hrs last month and have just sat. In my last 25 days of reserve I have been used 4 days. They are now asking for people to take voluntary unpaid vacation for January because we are so over staffed. If what ever is going on does not happen, mark my words, furloughs will start by April. Also, there will never be a contract, the company is to good at stalling and the union is worthless. Unless there is a strike or a sickout the negotiations will continue without results. The pilot group is awesome but no one is happy and the company truly does not care about us.

SkyWest has been wonderful! I recommend it to anyone trying to live out West. No, it's not perfect. There isn't a perfect job out there. That being said, the company has done some things that really impressed me and I'm glad I chose to work here.
I hope the best for everyone else too.

I came to Republic after a twenty year military career. I will enter my fifth year of employment here as a E-190 First Officer.
After 3 involuntary displacements, and one furlough, I can sum up my experience here in one sentence.
Being a Pilot at Republic Airways is much like being the
'Poor, seasonal, migrant worker of the airline industry.'
I'll break it down...,
- Poor: First year pay begins at 22.00 an hr and you'll top out at year 4 at 36.00. We have ZERO trip, duty, or min days.., none, notta.
ZERO cancellation pay.
- Seasonal: They'll work you like mad in the summer and if you're not furloughd in the winter, you'll sit in hotels for days on end. Don't take my word for it, read the rest of this tread and see for your self.
- Migrant Worker: I'll use myself as an example,
-- Hired Jan '08
-- Furlough'd Sep 08 then recalled in Nov.
-- Involuntary displacement number one Sep 2009
-- involuntary displacement number two May 2011
-- Involuntary displacement number three Jan 2013
This company has Furlough'd in 2008, 2009, 2010. If what ever this company has In the works for the coming months (that they seem to frantically in need of pilots for besides the Q flying). If that doesn't come to fruition, plan on being furloughed, COUNT on it.
Need I say more?
I think the OBVIOUS choice is clear! Best of luck to us all in this industry!

In the unlikely chance I get an up grade before getting a call from JetBlue, I'll at least stay to get my 1000 TPIC and then see where things are at.
Wish my crystal ball actually worked
