Agree about the skeletons, but they still get quite a few out of college. If it takes 75 hours for IOE on the 170, then you have some serious issues.

For anyone considering coming to Republic:
I've been at this place for over 3 years - I feel sorry for any of the guys who have been here longer - especially the 6+ year FOs still waiting to upgrade.
Moral has never been lower at this place.
7+ years without a reasonable contract.
Schedules suck, even if you're senior - EVERYONE is looking to get out including FOs, 10+ year senior pilots, check airmen. Almost 300 pilots have left since last summer, resulting in a net loss of over 75. The airline has been understaffed for years and with the losses, extra long SIT time (built in reserve) has been put in almost everyone's schedules to cover the flying - 11-12+ hour days is now common with no pay for sitting on your butt in between flights, no min pay, no cancellation pay, no overtime pay.
Expect your phone to ring on every one of your days off by crew scheduling asking you if you would like "any extra flying" (again, for no overtime pay).
Management is a joke. They are COMPLETELY out of touch with their pilots. The CEO has recognized this since his tv show debut on Undercover Boss 4 years ago and for the last 3 years has been saying that getting in touch with his employees and getting the pilots a new "Industry Leading" contract has been his #1 priority - The Pilots are STILL waiting. Claims that a ratifiable TA is close have been going around but, at this point pilots no longer believe ANY words coming out of the CEO's or Unions mouths. Late last year the company put a survey out to the pilots that smeared all of management. The company recently put into place new "Employee Action Teams" in an attempt to help improve moral and re-establish trust and communication from within the pilot group. Everyone I've talked to thinks this is simply a waste of time and resources - management is doing everything to beat around the bush and delay in getting any kind of contract established in a timely manner. This place is a sinking ship.
I would highly recommend, especially if you're a college grad looking to join a program to fund training by a regional, to STRONGLY consider another airline before considering coming to Republic. Do the research. Talk to REAL pilots on the line - don't talk to recruiters. Do the math - figure upgrade times and pay at other airlines before considering a company like this locking you in for years in return for paying for training...

2. Moral here is fine. Almost everybody I fly with has good character; moralE, however, is pretty bad :-)

When I got hired, I was told by recruiters that a contract was "right around the corner." Now, I am not naive, so I told myself that I will give it 2 yrs and if something doesn't start to materialize, I am out of here. Well, I realized very fast that RAH wasn't going to get a contract anytime soon and I got the hell out of that place in less than two years. I was tired of the long duty days, 8-10 hours a day of flying, being used everyday on reserve and my phone ringing on my few days off for overtime flying for straight pay. I was also tired of busting my butt for my tiny, pathetic paycheck I got that in no way even came close to reflecting what I should have been earning. No sense in sticking around the place any longer than I had to.
The only thing that RAH cared about is having meat in the seat. They do not care about anything else. I remember they hired these two guys from Africa. They barely made it through training only to wash out of OE because no one could understand them on the radio and they couldn't shoot a visual approach to save their lives.
This management will do anything but negotiate a fair contract. So if you like working for pennies on the dollar, have at it or at least have a plan in place to put your time in and make an exit to better things.

Also, even though RAH has been awarded 175s recently, aren't you still shrinking airframes? At this point, maybe management has no real reason for alarm? And hey, I'm pulling for ya. This no cancelation pay, no premium pay for pick up on days off--- that's messed up.
Agree with ALMOST everything. I don't agree with: 1. This place is NOT a sinking ship. It will be around as long as twinkies and cockroaches. This is why we will most likely never have the cba we deserve.

Probably second biggest offender next to "loose". Get it right, losers! Or is it loosers? Hmmm...

Modern Slavery
The problem is that we complain and complain and complain but do nothing about the situation and yet we expect things to miraculously change, that's the definition of Insanity my friends. It's modern day slavery they are trying to make things as difficult as possible so that you either quit or go insane. This profession has been destroyed at the regional level. There is no adequate compensation which is ok as long as there is quality of life (multiple days off, commutable lines, productive trips). Now we gave in to more concessions and our quality of life is been taken away. Yet there's plenty of mediocre 2nd and 3rd class pilots getting hire by the regionals cause this companies need to fill the seats. Here's the F*&K part about this, the FAA implemented all this changes (1500hrs, 117 rules) all to help place experience and well rested pilots in the cockpit. I wonder what they'll do when a plane slam into the ground cause by pilot error. Always have a backup plan.
