You will more than likely not be happy at Republic. I left Eagle in May and hired at Republic in July. Huge, huge difference from Eagle and not in a good way. Completely different attitude there. Training is bare minimums. Makes Eagle look like a top notch professionally run airline. I lasted 5 weeks and just couldn't take it anymore. Kept waiting for something positive to happen but it just kept getting worse. The contract is a promisary note for $20,000 that last for 2 years. It takes effect when you finish sim training. I have no personal experience with Skywest.

Back into retirement. Looking for a part 91 gig. I retired from ATC so I have a great income. Just love flying. Maybe if I went to RAH first I wouldn't know the difference. I talked to one of the guys that was in my class and he is already holding a line but doesn't like it much. Poor pay and screwed up schedules. I regret leaving Eagle. It was a gamble and I lost. That's life.

Get out now -- before the wave starts. There are a lot of young FO's at Eagle that don't have much time invested and are looking at jumping ship (myself included).
I'd shoot for SkyWest to keep your QOL. Commuting sucks, and that's coming from another former trans-continental commuter (ANC-MIA). I'm getting my ducks in a row now to ditch this concrete canoe for when the **** really hits the fan - just gotta get the FOQ done first. BTW want to do a junior guy a favor in the meantime and not proffer/displace to the CRJ in Chicago? Had to ask.

Check out Ameriflight if you want to stay west. Great flying experience! They will definitely get you west coast off the bat. I was there then came to SkyWest and love it at SkyWest. Being home based helps.
Never worked at Republic but I think this says a lot: RAH Contract NOW! | Teamsters Local 357
Good luck!!

My personal experience, food for thought.
I was a Eagle guy for 3 years and left to come to SkyWest, best personal decision I could have made for myself as I now drive to work (NOT financially). While at Eagle and after being based in ORD and getting kicked down to SJU, I knew I wanted to stay on the west coast as the midwest and east coast was not a fit for my lifestyle. I couldn't bare the thought of doing the red eye commutes or sitting on another MD-80 jumpseat for 4 hrs after a 8+hr day to get home tired and then punch back out two days later, all for regional pay and no upgrade in sight. I felt like I was wasting a lot of energy for little return in the long run.
1.5 yrs at Eagle is nothing compared to the rest of your career. I feel a lot of pilots get blind sided by the word "seniority" and sacrifice so much of their lives, even though the job may not be the right fit for them. Basically what value do you have being senior in a place that you do not want to live and is at a minimum of a 3 hour commute? What happens when you upgrade to Captain, hold DFW and then get displaced to LGA? As you know AMR loves to shuffle the system with their pilots. A classmate of mine involuntarily got displaced from LAX Saab-ORD CRJ-SJU ATR within 12 months. He spent 6 months of his year studying and living at The Admiral.
Now if you get hired at SkyWest nothing can be promised as it is a gamble of timing and luck, but I think in the long run you will have a better chance of a better QOL living on the West Coast as you do now and being able to drive to work. I also made the jump in the harsh reality of me possibly never getting on with a major or having to stick it out at a regional for longer than expected. Very junior guys are gonna be awarded LAX so I think in reality even if you get assigned the CRJ vs. Bro, you will be able to bid back to LAX quickly if you are assigned MSP, ORD, etc.
Good luck with your decision and don't hesitate to ask more questions.

This is a no-brainer. Skywest. I'm a +5 year FO at Repugnant and your chances for anything west of MCI are slim. Crew planning told us no more growth in DEN Q. Everyone on the Q in DEN lives there and many are waiting. Pay comparison leans Skywest by about 30% after soft money. RAH is the bottom feeder. People are good but management, schedules, qol, pay and morale are poor.
