Eagle vs Skywest vs Republic

The EMB at Skywest is a great thing for seniority. Within a year on type you'll be one of the most senior FO's in any base (as long as we keep hiring and running RJ class).
Worth noting, you don't bid your initial equipment, they offer a class base on company needs.

You will more than likely not be happy at Republic. I left Eagle in May and hired at Republic in July. Huge, huge difference from Eagle and not in a good way. Completely different attitude there. Training is bare minimums. Makes Eagle look like a top notch professionally run airline. I lasted 5 weeks and just couldn't take it anymore. Kept waiting for something positive to happen but it just kept getting worse. The contract is a promisary note for $20,000 that last for 2 years. It takes effect when you finish sim training. I have no personal experience with Skywest.

If you haven't applied at SkyWest, you need to. If interviewed and offered a job, make the decision then. You can ask for the EMB, you might give up some seniority waiting for a class though.
Even if hired into the RJ, you could bid into the EMB right seat after a year. Doesn't happen very often, but that option is there.

Another thought would be Great Lakes. IF you can afford it thats going to be your fastest upgrade by far I would think. That being said we have a ton of guys at skywest who came from lakes as well. If you can afford it you might look into it for a denver base and a quick upgrade. Those guys are really good sticks. Difficult lifestyle but, depending on your circumstances might be an option. BTW, I know they have some west coast bases as well. Not sure where. Best of luck.

Obviously the Lakes idea won't work for everyone, just a thought. If one can't afford lakes then I think the answer for anyone who has the time that is looking at a regional is obvious. Of course I'm biased. I just visited this evening with a new hire at skywest who came from the French Navy, he was flying Raphael's and Mirages off of carriers before he came here. He's loving life at Skywest and he's commuting to reserve. Attitude is 95% of life. Everyone has to make their own choice.

I think everyone (well most) had a great attitude when they came to Eagle, and those hired in since 2010 had one till till Nov 2011, now most are stressed out and many are unhappy.
Its a triple wammy, the FOQ is stressful enough. Add in being in Ch11 and being under the nonstop impression that we are going to lose our flying via whipsaw. The third wammy is this TA with paycuts, and a union that is clearly ripping everyone off and screwing us. Makes it hard to be happy right now. The union talks to us like used car sales man and actually says this is a GREAT TA! Or it has things that are great for us! A little humble pie would go a long long way, since its a bankruptcy concessionary contract, and calling it anything else is a flat out lie. According to all those lawyers and gurus that went to fancy schools calculate it will save about 37 million from the pilots/year. Those of us dumb folks with a calculator can see that means the pilots are giving up $12,000/yr. I cant afford no $12,000 year. I realize it will be distributed in many different ways, and I hopefully wont give up anywhere near that.

I've known a few guys who have called back after getting the CRJ acceptance E-Mail and requested the Brasilia. All of them were able to switch easily. I would assume they would be more than willing to put people on the Brasilia who actually show some interest in staying on it.
