Does anybody on the inside at Republic have any real info on how much trouble they are having hiring? So far, they have cancelled the training contract for the E140 and Q AND lowered mins even though they know the FO's will need min 1500 by August 2013. This should indicate difficulties in getting bodies.
If so, this could bode well for all of us. Slow but sure signs of some type of "shortage" arriving.

They're not giving out ATP's anymore. I've got 2 buddies going through, 1 on the Q and the other on the 145, and they told me they're getting SIC types. They're getting plenty of applicants, I did the interviewing when I was there, but the DO's and CP's that review the files are being super picky and only want Chuck Yeagers with a Superman history.

How come they dropped their mins by 300hrs recently if they are getting plenty of applicants?

Because they think there's Chuck Yeager pilots that didn't meet the 1500 rule. I did the interviewing there and also attended several job fairs. I scheduled tons of potential pilots to have upper management decide they weren't qualified. When you interview and get a thumbs up from the interview team, it goes upstairs and to get the final approval. Badically, you wasted your time interviewing. You could get all thumbs up just to have upstairs shoot you down. Like I said, plenty of applicants but not enough Yeagers with superman flying skills.

Lol those "yeagers" must not understand what work rules are. Nor what a reasonable, livable payscale is.

I'm hearing there are "many" no-shows to class. I'm guessing if any more reputable carrier is hiring, people are taking jobs there and not showing to RAH class.
I'm glad to hear we have applicants smart enough to go to better carriers and I'm also glad to hear RAH has figured out that the 20K indentured servitude contract was not helping recruiting. A new hire won't even make 20K. How in the world are they supposed to pay off the training contract. Don't forget it still exists on the 170/190.
We just found out our next mediation dates (after next week) are in December. This means if you expect a CBA prior to March 2013, you need remedial math (or I will owe you beer).

I just think the numbers state the facts.
1. Mins lowered to 1200.
2. No more training contract for 145 or Q.
It ain't a lot, but it's something. If they have a pile of applicants, I just don't understand why they would do 1 and 2 above.
Just looking for something positive and hoping that the qualified folks out there are drying up. It's about the only thing that can help us anymore.
