Work wherever you can man. I am aware of several other places that are hiring besides RAH. I like where I work, but I do not like what they have done with the contract. We are fighting for a better place but we lose leverage every time this place can find more pilots at the expense of other companies who struggle. If less people would consider coming here because of the existing contract, the more leverage we have as a pilot group. Xjet, Skywest are hiring still. If I could do it over again, I would have gone somewhere else. But here I am. The fact that the company has dropped the training contract for CHQ and the Q should speak volumes about this place. Until the contract gets better, they will struggle to get people to want to fly the 100 NM ring around ORD, or to fly a turbo prop out of MCI. It's a regular circus here right now. Be forewarned. But I do respect people's need to make a living...sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry for sounding a bit rough in my last reply.

I understand what you're saying but I don't think it's that much better elsewhere. I have 3 friends from 9L who have come to RAH in the past year and they say its not that bad. Now yes the work rules are a little worse but 1st year pay if you include the signing bonus makes it where I can start over. If I had to go to XJT I would take a serious pay cut and most likely be evicted from my home. So In my case, for now, this was the only place where I wouldn't be killing myself starting my pay scale over.

05/01/12 hire is the junior most lineholder in DCA and you could probably hold it after a couple of months depending on how things go. PIT is the most junior base and probably the worst possible base to ever have to commute to.

True, but that's assuming he rolls the three sided dice & lands on the Republic certificate. What if he gets S5 or RP? You can't put all your eggs in one basket (certificate wise) at this company. It took me almost 4 years to get the certificate & base I live in.

interesting, obviously I don't work there so I am not in the know. I thought as a new hire you were hired onto a particular cert and that equip and assoc bases and could not make any changes till upgrade. How does all this work. 5 years in with another airline I full well know that an airline puts new hires where they need them, not where I want to go. However, since this is divided into three certs, I figured you would be told at the time of offer what to expect. Thoughts?

Here is my experience thus far with RAH....
I interviewed in April of this year...everyone in my group (maybe 8 or so) were given the offer that day.
I had a lucrative contract through the Summer so I informed them that I would not be available until late June. They called me mid June and informed me that they had Republic and Shuttle classes both beginning on 6/25.
I was given a choice of what certificate to go to and I chose Shuttle (no real reason). During training, there was all kinds of talk that the "Bonus" would never be seen. It was given to us in 2 installments around the 3rd and 5th weeks of training.
There were 8 in my class. 6 were assigned CMH and 2 were assigned LGA.
It seems that there is some movement at CMH as the class before us (I believe a April class) are all holding lines.
Obviously, there are contract issues and other crappy things that surround any regional. My only real complaint at the moment is I am overnighting in Edmonton and it is 32 degrees. It is raining and I have no beer.

Similar experience to the post above. Interviewed and got offer on the same day for a Chautauqua class. I turned it down as I wanted either Shuttle or Republic. I gave them my preference, received a call about a week later to offer a Shuttle class which I took. In my new hire class 3 of us got IND and 1 got CMH. The CMH guy is a line holder this month. The other 2 are reserves in Indy, and I was able to get to LGA starting this month. It took me 3 months to get LGA after training. As far as the bonus we also got the first half after 3 weeks and the second half after 5 weeks. They do take taxes out if it so you end up with about $3200 of the $5000. So far not much to complain about, I was at a different regional before that had a better contract but not much better than here. It's also much more organized than my previous company believe it or not.
