That's good don't worry about the placard not to use in the vicinity of other aircraft. Although if there is not a cockpit 50 feet from the strobes, I have no issue. I hope you use the ice lights as well, because the guy behind you holding short certainly wouldn't see you and might taxi straight into you as you are in position. and besides who cares if he cant see a thing outside for 10 minutes, you got to be really cool turning on unnecessary lights.
But you are correct I can certainly imagine someone pulling onto the runway while you are on the roll, missing the millions of candlepower of landing/taxi lights, but somehow picking up on a tiny flash while looking into the landing lights.
I hope you drive your car with the emg. flashers on as well, safety first you know. Perhaps you should always use your high beams as well, just to make sure everyone notices you.

It took so long because you just enjoyed reliving your disco fever days......if only you had a mirrored ball in the cockpit!

I'm really wishing I never started this thread.
Thank you all those pilots who can look at the big picture and make common sense decisions. All others who checked your brains at security, keep working hard to get that training dept position.

There is a reason why it is required at my airline to have the strobes on when crossing the hold line on an active runway. Oh, and if I wanted a training department position I would have had one long ago. Ironic you cop a condescending attitude to people who follow their FOM and adopt tried and proven best practices

And why does republic use them to cross inactive runways?
Cause the pilot isn't thinking. And is being disrespectful of other pilots.
This gentleman last night was thoughtful and if you read the AIM under night operations it talks about courtesy towards your fellow pilots.
Some people are polite and courteous. And others not. Read the beginning of your POH. It says that they cannot simulate every situation so best judgement is to be used. Show me one violation where someone got nailed for turning on strobes late?

This beats the Rangers/White Sox.
Cleared for takeoff for me means every light on, ice, recogs, etc. I use strobes crossing active runways, not closed ones though. And I don't use the strobes when "lined up and waiting" on an active runway at night if there's another plane waiting.
Guess I've overthought this too much?

You even having to note that this happened and take the time to post it shows you are in the minority....
