From what I understand DEN is a fact, only rumor is whether the other is MCI or PIT.

Thats why they are hiring an ACP for PIT. PIT is a verified base.

Yes. They are already here, just not in service for United. Latest almost-a-fact rumor is that Pit will be the other base getting them. At least initially.

Pit isn't even a United base, its an Airways base. In the company letter from BB, it clearly stated DEN, EWR, and IAD.

DEN and PIT are both Republic maintenance bases. I don't think Republic has a maintenance base at EWR or IAD.

Considering the Q400s have a reputation for maintenance issues, would it make sense to open crew bases where overnight/heavy maintenance is performed?

FWIW, I believe MCI, MKE, IND and CMH are Republic maintenance bases as well.

Well, there is soon to be a large empty hangar at IAD ready to rent with several experienced Q400 mechanics already in the area looking for a job, it makes perfect sense to make it a base when that is where most of the planes will be at any given time during the work day. With how mx intensive the Q is you really need the mechanics nearby at all times. Most of the airplanes will be in IAD and EWR so that is where the mechanics need to be.

All Q new hires (no left seaters) and upgrades are going to DEN to start and they want those guys out of the schoolhouse and online by July. No word yet where the next will go but I'm sure the union will have their hands in the pot before the first ones start class.

Wow so RAH couldn't make money flying Q400 s from DEN in their own operation, but now they will fly Q400s from DEN and subsidized by UAL. Shows how messed up the regional feed contracts are.

No, they couldn't make money on the F9 side. I don't think they ever did. Look up economies of scale.

Doesn't have to be a united base. Its a big RAH Maint base, just talked to the MX today and they are hiring plus the co. is looking to buy hangar 1 in PIT, right beside our current hangar.
