The difference is that ibt, is the legal agent assigned to represent F9 pilots and our cba via the nmb sts ruling.
FAPA was our 'past' Union, and now; simply an association of F9 pilots.
You are correct in saying a 'dues paying member (of ibt) can pay fee's to "some" other entity, ie - FAPA, NRA, PETA, Acorn, What-Ever The F_ck EVER'; but sir YOU Miss the POINT. We 'CAN' pay fees to anything and Anyone we desire but Again you miss the point.
The point is, we don't want to fund Both sides. As 'Core fee Payers' we pay the fees we are Required Under the LAW; that mnb decide we should/MUST pay ibt for their 'services' in representing and defending our cba. Even though those same people using our own funds will/ ARE currentlty ATTACKING US at the same time.
(take a second - is that asking TOoooo Much..?? and just think about that for a moment.).
We are paying MONEY for our ibt to sue ourselves..... thats as clear as MUD...'
Enjoy your weekend, enjoy church, or your families or just yourselves....; go forth and tell them again how you rate OUR jobs, our pay, our rules.. OUR Whatever; Remeber TAKE TAKE TAKE.....
Take what You Wish.. Know it is 'Someones', And prepare yourself to pay the price.
maybe today, maybe tomarrow, maybe 10 to 20 YEARS from now.
Make no mistake you pos, you WILL pay..
You are correct 'fault' that fapa IS an Association; However..
It is NOT A Union..
Get your $hit strait.

Here's some definitions of "union":
Union | Define Union at Dictionary.com
4. a number of persons, states, etc., joined or associated together for some common purpose: student union; credit union.
Labor union - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary
: an organization of workers formed for the purpose of advancing its members' interests in respect to wages, benefits, and work
labor union - definition of labor union by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.
An organization of wage earners formed for the purpose of serving the members' interests with respect to wages and working conditions.
Or, if you prefer the short version, akin to what you presented:
FAPA IS a union (note that I used upper case, italics, and bold, which counts for more than your upper case and italics).
I am, however, in agreement on the inanity of paying money to IBT for them to decide what's best for us, especially when we've made it clear how we want to be represented.
cloudwarrior - are you honestly a Frontier pilot?

I thought F9 was too good for us regional pukes, yet they love to post in the regional forums now? Too much noise from a very small group of people. Too much clutter in a forum that is supposed to be for getting info to anyone who would crazy enough to hop on right now here.

F9Bros I really hope the best for you. I don't really care if your contract is better than mine, or if you make more money than me.
To tell you the truth I have never wanted to have a frontier employee number.
You have some really nice people there and you have some mean people there. All you F9 pilots on this board I am sure are super cool people. I have to give you some respect for trying so hard to keep your airline alive.
Can I ask a few questions though? This isn't anything involved with contracts or pay. It's more I guess about loyalty for your airline because I have no loyalty for mine what so ever....I would like a true answer from the heart.
Why do you like working for an airline so much that strives itself on being an ultra low cost carrier?
Why do you have so much heart for an airline name that has been around the block 2 times now? Also the name has been merged with I don't know how many but I think since 1950 and including all the carriers at RAH it's around 15 or so different carriers. Other "regional" airlines and even some "commuter" airlines have been in the mix well before RAH joined the party.
I just never see a guy like me wanting to work for such an unstable company.
I just don't like the LCC business model and I don't believe in it.
I hope I didn't get under anyone's skin at F9. I just wish I had as much heart for a company as you all do.

Ok I get the 30 minute drive to work thing, but than again that argument is made by regional pilots also. Lots of senior regional pilots don't want to leave because the easy drive to work.
If I could find a place that actually respected me I would probably stay also.
OH I do want to ask about something I just learned about this week. You guys are doing like a tri base thing with o'hare, Rockford, and Midway? That has really got to suck. Did you guys get any say on that or did RAH just stick it on you?

If the fact that pilots don't choose which cities are domiciles is "sticking it to you", then they stuck it to us. Otherwise, we'd have about 30 domiciles with 1-5 pilots each.
