Republic Hiring

Why? Everyone that applies is thinking it. I just said it. Look at how many guys have passed up on Chautauqua classes to get a Shuttle or Republic class. I know someone that did that. He lived in Columbus, Ohio so it had nothing to do with basing location. His exact words to me were, "I know the aircraft pay the same, but I'd rather fly the 170 because it's a better plane."

Is anybody really believing the rumor that we got bonuses on the Frontier side?
I'm sure most of the Midwest guys would be eager to take a recall to your contract, but I'm not sure how many would jump at the chance to work under ours.
If a Midwest pilot declines a Republic/Shuttle/Chautauqua class under recall rights, can they later accept an F9 class? What are their bypass rights?

I heard y'all came out with a vacancy bid for 100 something E-Jet captains? Is this true? And that they were going to combine Shuttle and Chautauqua's certificate because AA scope is toast after BK and you guys were picking up flying. Can anyone shed some light on this?

That's just one of the many reasons we're arguing that the arbitrator over-stepped his authority. He's not allowed to rewrite the CBA's, but for all intents and purposes, he has.

No word on combining any certificates yet, but it's not out of the question.

The bid was for 72 170 captain spots. It was filled with chq captains and Midwest furloughs. Not 1 true upgrade came out of the bid. Starting to look more like a realignment than additional flying. No word on combining certs not that it would matter much.
Every midwest furlough received a recall notice for those wondering why we are hiring off the street

Although there may be exceptions, people aren't the idiots you try to make them out to be. It has to do with relative seniority. A one year guy on the E-jet has about the same qol as a 4 year guy on the ERJ.
I would love to go fly the 170. I would be home 50% more when factoring in the easier commute. This may change when cross bidding becomes a reality in the next contract.

What a shame to see people almost spit on their plate of food. RAH is and always has been a good place to be. Even outsiders like me know it.
You are correct that it has been a good place, you are incorrect that it is a good place. Hoping it will be if/when a new contract is in place. Past year or two has seen this place remind me of working at Mesa all over again.
