Those are the cons. The pro is you get to fly EMB-170's and EMB-190's. This is the only regional where you can fly big airplanes. You will feel like a real airline pilot. If you fly on the Frontier side, you can even tell the passengers you work for Frontier since there's technically a combined seniority list.

What about all the furloughed Midwest pilots? There's several hundred of them to recall before you can do any hiring off the street, aren't there?

BB and WH will do whatever they want regardless of the IMSL. Technically I believe you're correct, the Midwest guys should be at least offered the "recall" before we hire again, but I don't trust our management to do the right or legal thing.

Why? Everyone that applies is thinking it. I just said it. Look at how many guys have passed up on Chautauqua classes to get a Shuttle or Republic class. I know someone that did that. He lived in Columbus, Ohio so it had nothing to do with basing location. His exact words to me were, "I know the aircraft pay the same, but I'd rather fly the 170 because it's a better plane."

They're not doing that on the Frontier side of things. We need a few more pilots but won't be recalling unless it gets bad, because the IMSL is considered our official seniority list. The furloughed Midwest guys are counted as furloughed RAH/F9 pilots with regards to our respective contracts.

Is anybody really believing the rumor that we got bonuses on the Frontier side?

Don't pay any attention to bitter souls like this and the many whiners on our list who evidently spend every minute away from work on these forums lamenting. Republic is a fine regional to work for. But it's a regional. You'll fly newer and well maintained equipment in challenging airspace building great experience. The 190 type is and will be very marketable (high wages) abroad for some time to come. Upgrades are slow right now but everything in this industry is cyclical and it seems we're finally at the bottom and coming back up. The best time to time a move. Wages are low for equipment size but I suspect that will change for the better this year. The contract is par with the other regionals. Some things are better and some worse. Good luck.
