Hotel Tips (Brickyard Hotel)
Just a list of some things that I found helpful/wish I knew prior to arrival to initial training. Nothing really "gamechanging", but its the little things that made life easy as I went. Disclaimer: Only been here for about a month, so this is not an exhaustive list by any means. Feel free to chime in if I missed something, or your experience was different.
1. House keeping: They give you a nice printed schedule of when they will do the different service. 1x per week is just trash/new towels. The other is a full service (full clean/linen etc.). Happens every two days, alternating service. Make sure to remove the Do Not Disturb sign in the morning when you go off to class/Sim or wherever else for the day. I forgot once, and missed a full service cleaning. Not a huge deal, but I felt dumb.
2. Mini-fridge: Dont expect to be able to shop for luxury food items. The fridge is your typical mini-fridge with a very small freezer section with a cover. I was able to fit one, maybe two marie-calendar sized frozen meals in it, so dont go crazy while shopping. I did manage to fit a half-gallon carton of milk in the door slot, but you will not be able to get a full gallon anywhere in the fridge. I use it for stuff like overnight oats, protein shakes or just something besides water.
3. Additional appliances: As the hotel states (and reminds you), cooking stuf isnt allowed. However, I did bring a small air purifier and a magic bullet blender, and this was no problem. A pro tip is absolutely invest in a small room air purifier. It was well worth the $40 or so on Amazon. They are doing major construction right next door, including concrete grinding. This creates a lot of dust that gets swirled around the hotel, and drove my allergies crazy the first few days.
4. Packages/amazon/walmart orders can be shipped right to the hotel. Just ask for the address, and you wont have any issues with packages.
5. Walmart+: even if you only do the trial version, Walmart delivery is a game changer. I will usually make up my shopping list the night before, and have a scheduled delivery an hour or so after class. If you dont have a vehicle or just dont want to deal with traffic, its a major win. I just met the delivery guy/gal outside with one of the hotel dollies for luggage, and carted it right to my room.
6. Parking/EV charging: parking garage has plenty of availability (at least until they finish building the HQ), however the spaces are very tight. Small car is ok, but anything bigger than a typical SUV will have some difficulty if you dont park far away on like level 4 or 5. It is 7 levels total, with an elevator.
Also, big game changer for anyone driving an EV. They have about 4 or 5 individual level 2 chargers on every single floor. I always saw a few open while driving. They are also free, so thats a bonus.
7. Bring a nice water bottle: They have water filling stations all over the training center, and one in the gym inside the hotel. Also, almost every lounge (1 per floor of hotel) has a really nice ice-maker and some form of purified water tap. Both are water-bottle friendly.
8. Meijer: Its a superstore/chain (if youre not familiar) similar to wal-mart. Decent prices and is easily walkable, or you can ride the RPA shuttle. Almost everyone there is super friendly, as they are used to Republic flight crew. Talked to one nice cashier who was actually about to start her FA training (if youre reading this, good luck!).
9. RPA shuttle: You will be given access to an app in indoc that will allow you to schedule rides on the shuttle. It goes to IND and back, Meijer or downtown carmel. The hotel posts a lot of different events that happen downtown every week.
10. Packing: Sounds silly, but pack enough clothes as if you needed to survive two weeks before doing laundry. At least on the pilot side, I promise that you will be absolutely exhausted after a long day of training, studying and other chores that will not want to bother with laundry. Also, between going to the gym daily, I ended up going through about two sets of clothes per day.
11. Toiletries: If you end up driving, bring full size bottles of your preferred shampoo/body wash etc. The hotels ones are "decent", but you probably wont like them if you are picky. If you end up flying, go buy some the day before training starts.
Overall, this is just little stuf I found helpful. One less thing to think about, or one more small thing that made my stay a little comfortable. It allowed me to focus more on training, and made the hotel a little more like home.

I'd add, bring a cooler or buy one. load it with ice from the study room and you have a real fridge - tis a travesty that they only have mini fridges
bring laundry detergent
leave all your crusty clothes at home. Bosses are there even on weekends
herd someone tried to bring a date back - don't do that
