My guess for 18 months would be around 500 overall. YTD is around 250 overall with a stabilizing trend. The FO/CA split was around +400 at its peak and that's dropped to just around +100. Flying hours is not that much less now than 18 months ago I believe, but I don't currently have hard numbers for that.

Is that shrinkage or just attrition? Attrition can be offset by new pilots coming on board (though I know for the last 7 months of so that’s been very minimal). When I left the split was about +650 (+/-) FO. Total pilot group was roughly 2100 (1400/700) when I left. Company needs to shrink to stay afloat. If they can’t maintain CA they need to lower their expectation of how many pilots may want to stay more than 3 years and run with that.
Total pilot group July '23: 1959
Net loss: 231 in 5 months. Most of that loss is Captains. Number of CA to FO projected to be roughly even by September.
I don't have the figures to reference but I believe this time last year we were closer to 2500 pilots.
