Default How to Handle Hard Time Vacation

My fiancé and I are trying to plan a wedding, which I know will be difficult as a new hire, and we're targeting the end of 2022. Is there any preparation I should take now with my HR rep, or how would this work as it got closer to the time to have a solid week off without worries of bidding it? Anyone experience this for vacations that weren't really flexible? I'm coming in to all this as a former corporate guy so wanting to know the differences in how things like this are requested, if they even can be.

Thanks!

Bid it. If you don't get it work with your ACP or the CP.

Even if you are the most junior pilot on property there are ways to ensure time off, all without “engaging” someone in HR or ACP. Talk to captains you fly with and get their opinions. Learn the contract and what options you have for PDOs, Vacation, and GDOs

You earn in the neighborhood of a day a month when you start. It goes up a little every year you are there until it's 10 hours a month, a day being 4+12 so 2+days a month. That takes 16 years to get to that level.
Day one is 4.25 days a month.

I didn't take a "vacation" my first two years and was able to schedule around anything I needed off for. You can carry 1.5X what you can accrue per year, so it changes a little every year. If you have more than that, they simply pay you for it automatically.

So I take it you could bid for a non vacation period of time off, and then can you add some of your vacation days onto that? So maybe you have a 3 day gap in work then you add 3 vacation days totaling 6 days off? Or no

Vacation requests PDO’s are done the month prior. You wouldn’t have your schedule yet. You can use PDO’s with GDO’s to get days off you need.

does this ‘day a month’ begin on your date of hire? So if you are hired Jan 01 by July you have 6 days? Or am I misunderstanding
