All he said on the podcast about the number was that it had changed three times in the week that they recorded the episode, and it was only Thursday that they recorded, so it’s probably changed again by now. Sounds like it’s a moving target, but 200 this year sounds pretty good to me! Especially combined with the fact that they have started recalls. They mentioned that some were concerned about LIFT contractually getting some training slots, but said there were fewer than 10 candidates coming out of LIFT, so it shouldn’t have much of an effect

With talks of the company planning to hire back up, would it be wise for someone with a CJO and previously scheduled class date to get the ATP CTP done on their own with hopes of getting priority on class dates when they begin?

There's no reason to pay for the ATP-CTP. That's a huge chunk of money for what might amount to a very small benefit. Not worth it for me.

I spoke to my recruiter and she said that the company will pay for CTP. I am a cadet though so idk if that makes a difference or not.

Pay for the CTP- and then 1099 Misc. it on your taxes. Plan accordingly.

Your accountant must have a field day with you.

I've heard that Republic definitely sends out a 1099 if they pay for your ATP CTP

I do not recommend that. Someone chime in if Im crazy but the ATP CTP costs around 7k. A potential weeks seniority here isn’t worth that -assuming it gets you in earlier in the first place.
We do atp ctp in house. The instructors are gearing up for new guys on property in May. Just hold tight and save your money. If you do anything, buy Shepard air and prep for the written while you have time.

FWIW, Republic 1099s you $4,500 for the ATP-CTP and I have a friend who paid for it out of pocket at ATP Jets in Dallas for the insurance break on his plane and it was $3,800. It was surely more expensive pre-Covid but that’s what he paid in December.

Interesting. Did that include travel and hotel? I could have sworn I paid more but it’s been a minute.

So essentially it becomes imputed income like using flight benefits - so then you pay the applicable income tax rate on it at the end of the year? Am I understanding that correctly?
