Thats because those were the only planes that could fly in. In late 2018 the runway was completed after being lengthened to 5000ft. i believe the only reason why The Crj700 does not enter the market is because they do not have the performance to get into and out of HHH.

I’m assuming your talking about Key west and not Eagle Creek... but HHH is only 4700ft for LDA, so it’s still shorter than Key West. Why would DL route Republic through ATL via LEX only to serve HHH when they had an airframe that could do it? It makes no sense to do that. If the CRj700 could do it why doesn’t Mesa fly it into their from IAD instead of a 175. Why doesn’t PSA fly it into there from CLT? As far as im aware there has never been a single CRJ operation into HHH. We were the first Jet service into there with the 175 for AA replacing the Q300.
I’ve always been told Bombardier cheaped out on their certification effort and did not do a full certification on their landing performance on the 700 and that is why the E170/175 is used into shorter runways where as the CRj700 is used in places that needs greater performance in the air like Aspen.

The Utah mafia is at it again. From what I was told through the ringer, they want everything west of the Mississippi, EVERYTHING. It looks like they’re flying 76% of last year. That should have every pilot at the company working full time yet I was told CRJ pilots out of MSP and DTW are on a new form of “paid vacation”, coronavirus style. It sounds like anyone flying a 175 (including MSP) at SkyWest would have no idea we’re all in the middle of a pandemic, nothings changed other than a slight increase in flying.
The Utah mafia made it very clear. The future of flying for SkyWEST is the all mighty ERJ-175, west of the Mississippi (zero competition).
The only base I see for SkyWest East of the Mississippi is ORD.
Grab your popcorn, a dog fight for east coast territory like DTW and the NYC airports are about to initiate between Republic and Endeavor. Best of luck.
