The best YX could do with this order is replace some of the older, beat up 170s with new 175SCs. Other than that, there’s literally nowhere they can go.
I’ve said it countless times, but BB made this order in anticipation of winning over some of the flying that came up for renewal (he stated so himself), and banking on scope relaxing. Neither are happening...

What has really changed for Republic? Mesa renewed the flying that they were already covering and traded some tired old 700’s for new jets with the same seating capacity. Gojet will add some 50 seat jets after those 700’s are converted to 550’s. Republic may not have gained any additional flying, but I don’t see where they lost any either. I have no idea what United will do in the future (don’t know if they do either), but my guess is that all of the current players will somehow be in the mix.

The most concerning part is United awarding 175s to xjet when they didn’t even have a program. Mesa makes sense, sort of. They’re cheap. United loves cheap. But like you said, no one knows. Especially with Kirby taking the helm the future of United is anyone’s guess. What we do know is Kirby loves outsourcing but he loves CHEAP outsourcing even more.

Republic lost by not gaining anything. United has awarded more 175s to xjet and now Mesa. Probably the two airlines BB was banking on filling in for when he ordered those 100 airplanes that have nowhere to go.

Yes, it's frustrating that we didn't get some of the flying we'd obviously hoped to get. Yes, we currently have a big order for planes currently without routes to fly them on.
But your implication that the "writing is on the wall" for YX as a UAX carrier is just so completely baseless it undermines your overall credibility. There is absolutely zero evidence to suggest we won't get our contracts renewed when they're up, and it's totally without foundation to suppose two contracts are evidence that UA is somehow distancing itself from YX.
Firstly, a lot has changed since we placed the order for those aircraft. The situation with ExpressJet vis-a-vis Skywest created a strategic opportunity for United to invest (indirectly) in a regional with a good growth opportunity. I suspect we had hoped for a lot of that flying, but it remains to be seen exactly how big ExpressJet can get.
This new Mesa order has almost nothing to do with us. It's also a net zero aircraft for them. This is United replacing 70 seat CR7s with 70 seat 175s so they can convert the previous CR7s and give them to the only existing 550 operator. I think it's fair to say if we had CR7s, they'd probably be in talks with us, too.
The only thing that Mesa gained from this was the extension of their existing flying, which is the part we were going after. United's willingness to extend that contract certainly shows that they're willing to settle for a comparatively mediocre operation for a cheap pricetag, which we all already knew anyway.
It does not, however, indicate an unwillingness to pay for YX, or that they are otherwise unhappy with YX's position as a part of their regional network. Could that be true? I suppose, but there's nothing that's happened lately that would lend credible evidence to that.
You're putting the cart well before the horse.

What writing on the wall? I think you’re just butt hurt because you live near ORD and that base is slowly dwindling away forcing you to commute because you’ll never hold it (evident from previous butt hurt posts/threads you created).

Not at UA. They’re the only ones with a MEC that has a history of relieving scope. Whether the majority of their pilots agree with that who knows, but their union already caved several times in the past.
