Answer your other question you get the big 3, and a ton from ZED. ZED takes 6 months though to get access to.

Benefits don't go by alliances like your miles do. Just straight American, United, and Delta. There are other programs to get on other airlines like Zed, but that will cost money (not as much as a full price ticket though).

The above posts are correct. You will be told during Indoc they take 30 days from DOH to become active. That is not true. I went to 3 days of Indoc before being sent home during an extended break last year, and after submitting the requests for benefits on the night of Day 1 of Indoc, two of the three (DL and UA) were active by the time I left Indy on Day 3. AA's was active about a week later.
At the end of the day, if your benefits are active, they have been approved on the mainline side and there's no reason they can't be used.
But your benefits apply only to the listed airlines and their regional partners, not alliance/codeshare partners. Essentially, if it's a branded flight (e.g. American or American Eagle, Delta or Delta Connection, United or United Express), you can use your standby privileges on them. If it's a foreign airline or other domestic airline, you will have to consult our ZED agreements, which can be found on the Travel page of the Intranet once you gain access. These benefits are active 6 months after date-of-hire. Generally, it's a safe bet that immediate family (spouse/dependent children) will have ZED privileges, but parents are more hit or miss. ZED is the lowest standby level, and will go after all employees' passriders. With almost no exception, ours are limited to economy only.
