It' about 1.7 years for someone who has 2500 and will take first available at any base (has every base listed in bid sheet). Those that come in with R-ATP of 1000 will have a hard time getting that 1500 hours in that time, but otherwise you should have enough by then. I expect upgrade times to continue to slowly drop a little more as we add new aircraft over the next year.
The Boston award is misleading. That person slipped through because A lot of people bidding for first available did not realize to add BOS to their bid sheet in the short time between the announcement that the base was opening up and the running of the December CA awards.

CA training is very quick as they expect you to know the Systems and FOM coming in, so it is looked at as more of a brush up. Week and a half of class, EFPT, and your Oral, then another week and a half of SIMS and checkride, then your already off to the line for OE. Some people find themselves on the line flying CA OE after only a month after their first day of CA training, assuming no delays waiting for a check airman.
