Express Jet just announced a 175 base in ORD. Republic is done. They can finally fulfill their dreams of being nothing more than a northeast regional.

I don’t understand why everyone is so hard on republic for not moving west. Skywest is the only “national” regional. It’s not like everyone except republic is on both coasts.

Who cares? Republic is done? Lol. ORD is only open for the employees that reside there. Operationally, the base does nothing for the airline. XJet opening a base will have no factor on YX and was expected as they are UAs new unofficial “wholly owned”..

I’m not sure what the obsession about the west coast is. Yeah flying out there would make this operation more diverse, but at the end of the day YX is just another business with the sole intention of making money. My guess would be with the performance numbers YX has to their peers in the same region, as well as the available staffing to cover Mesa, XJet and other flying at premium cost they’re having no issues profiting huge. The one argument that I hear floating around is that if we don’t go west, we won’t be able to hire pilots. Classes are more than a year out currently with a major flight school as well, with the eastern US being the most densely populated. Not a very good argument.

Because Bedford and management have been vocal about moving west and increasing our presence in places besides the northeast on a consistent basis.

The last I looked at the route map, it was showing the entire eastern half of the country. The last I looked at my schedule I didn’t even touch the NE region at all. On what basis do you define YX as a “Northeast regional?”

Except it’s United’s largest and busiest hub. So all those pairings that start in Indy, CMH, PIT, SDF, etc. need a hub to fly to. Because, you know, places like Indy, and Columbus, and Pittsburg, and Louisville rely on Chicago, NY, and Houston.

Lol saying ORD provides nothing operationally for the airline is one of the most dense statements I’ve read. There’s a reason Chicago is one of, if not the largest, crew base for most of the airlines there. Anywhere in the country in one flight, but I guess double DHs from Indy is a solid choice too.

Wrong airline that is done. Look for Republic ORD to actually add some Delta flying as we start the BOS shuttle flights. The cards are all about to Fall
in place....

Honestly I hope you’re right and I’m wrong. Is there room for 3 United 175 operators in Chicago, though?

YX is doing just fine with UA flying with the small ORD base as it is. Hence it does nothing operationally for the airline.
