Default Flight benefits for a newbie

New hire here.

When will known crew member badges be administered?
How long from the first day of Indoc until jumpseating privileges are granted?
How long until flight benefits become active?

You will get them sometime in Systems
When you get your badge
30 days, maybe sooner

The training department will tell you that you can't jumpseat until you're "qualified", which to them means once you pass the Systems Validation you're good to jumpseat on Republic flights, but you have to wait until your licensed to jump on other carriers. I'm fairly certain that there's nothing wrong with jumpseating once you have your badge; others will know more. I took the more cautious approach of not trying to push their rules.

::Correction:: The training department managers will say you cannot jumpseat until you’re a qualified crew member, BUT the instructors will tell you otherwise and some even encourage it for learning purposes. Technically once you have your badge and CASS you’re good to go, however the managers discourage it because people would jump in between training days then get stuck somewhere and don’t make it back. You’re on probation your first year so choose wisely.

Badges and KCM will come after INDOC before you go home for systems.

You should be in CASS for jumpseating when your badge is issued, however see previous post.

Flight benefits (AA/DL/UA) are active 30 days after DOH. ID90 is 6 months from DOH.

No Republic or any other crew will turn you away from the jumpseat. All you need is your CASS badge, your current certificate. and medical. We have trainees from other Regionals jumpseat with us all the time, so it is ridiculous that they tell our own students that they can't. Just ignore that nonsense.

I know the managers normally say the flight benefits are activated after 30 days but how true is that? I’ve heard numerous pilots say it only takes a few days .

For me, Delta and United happened within a week, and American was more like 3 weeks. However, a guy in my class said he called about taking a non-rev flight before 30 days passed and was told that even if he could successfully list for a flight, he would be denied at the gate. Honestly, I don't believe that to be true, but I didn't have an opportunity to test it.

I think they say 30 days because the travel department doesn't want to be inundated with endless "why haven't travel benefits started yet?" emails. But in reality, they will most likely start sooner. I think my Delta benefits were the first to became active, and that was within 3 weeks.
