I understand there is a lot of bitterness for the people who have been in this company for the last contract and that is manifested x10 on these message boards as what usually happens on these boards. But times are changed. We'll see how this shakes up.

So you don’t believe we should learn from history? Looks like you’ve been on property for less than a year, so you really have no idea what’s going on here. I get they have treated you very nice, but maybe that’s because they need you to fill a seat. If Republic doesn’t have a contract by this time next year, who would you blame? Educate yourself on the the past history of RAH, because as long as BB is around, it will repeat.

BTW,

I would still say Republic is a good place to go for some people. Depends on what priorities they have I suppose. Certainly not last choice, but not industry leading either.

So you are saying that the contract previous to the current one took 7 years to negotiate too? Since history always repeats, I assume so. If you think history always repeats, then you are even more naive then you think I am.

I wasn’t at RAH when the last contract was negotiated or TAed. I can tell you they started a alter ego airline to pressure ratification of a substandard CBA. I can tell you that they furloughed pilots out of seniority order. The FO rates were horriable! Even with a CBA that was very much beneficial to management, they still constantly violated it. Sounds like you haven’t really researched the history of your company. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite you in the future.

Everyone needs to listen to what this poster is saying because it is spot on. The only reason Bedford was not successful in getting his alter ego off the ground before the 2003 contract (which required everyone be on one list) was the FAA. They were dragging the certification process out. If he had gotten his way Republic would have been whipsawed against Chautauqua similar to the Gojet situation. Not only have they furloughed pilots out of seniority order, but also upgraded and displaced out of order.

Yeah Bedford sucks but it’s time to pay up or shutdown. It’s that simple.

I’ll stress again that the frequency of the meetings between the committee and company should be noted as a positive sign. They are even meeting over this weekend. Seems strange to be talking so urgently for a contract that, according to some people, is years away.

It does sound like things have speed up. Don’t read too much into the pace of negotiations, until you hear that compensation has been agreed to by the company and union. The union should post which articles have been agreed to, but I honestly doubt any have been agreed to yet. If new pay rates aren’t out by next winter, then yes they will have trouble. Probably have to make some tough decisions about aircraft utilization. I would love for B.B. to prove me wrong, but I seriously doubt you will see a TA until next winter at the earliest.

Or we could just wait for the update next week like the union e-mail said. They are clearly trying to roll something out, meeting on a Holiday week and weekend, and telling us there will be an update from the NC and E-Board the first week of a new year...

That sounds like a plan. Oh and they didn’t say they were meeting this weekend, they said if they continue with positive results they will work over the weekend. Did you talk to NC and they’re meeting this weekend now? I really hope it’s true, because I see a lot of shattered dreams if we don’t get a TA very soon. Probably need to give a class on expectation management.

Yea, I mean you're right. It makes much more sense for us all to listen to you complain and speculate like a little child for the next couple of weeks when we were told we will be given an update. Give it a rest dude.
