Hello All

I’m trying to list parents on delta for non rev. It’s charging me a yield fare I believe. Is this normal? All my other buddies at other regionals parents fly at no charge domestically, if it’s international there is of course tax. This is kind of disappointing as some international non rev on delta is the same almost as a confirmed ticket.

Yup, Delta charges a per leg fee for parents. I once looked into using Delta to get my parents out to visit me and it was almost $200 each, one way. I continue to add them to my benefits every year since it's free- one day they might be in a pinch and need it. But it would probably just be cheaper to buy a ticket on Allegiant or something. It's ridiculous.

United charges a segment fee of $35-40 (domestic) and I'm not sure about American as I haven't put my parents on them yet.

What "other regionals" are you talking about? The only one that offers better benefits than us on DL is Endeavor pilots. We have the same as Skywest/Compass/XJT/GoJet pilots. No one else has DL bennies.

At SkyWest, parents flying on Delta don’t pay, but there is imputed income I believe.

I don't believe Skywest has different bennies at DL for parents. The non-WO all have the same deal, unless it is paid by Skywest.

Each regional partner negotiates flight benefits with mainline partners. I can confirm that SkyWest does have different benefits than Compass, and it sounds like the benefits are different than Republic.

So looking into it, some carriers opt to pay a yield fare for parents, and others don’t but then you have imputed I come for tax purposes.

Republic UA travel benefits used to be horrible, then they renegotiated them with United. Delta benifits aren’t that bad, and they will never equal WOs. SkyWest probably negotiated a better deal for their employees.

The travel benifits are usually negotiated into contract with majors, so I wouldn’t expect any improvements anytime soon, unless republic pays.

UA allows one friend in lieu of spouse plus an extra friend (same as AA)
DL allows two sets of parents (parents divorced but remarried)
None of them allow in-laws as parents though.
Reviving an extremely old thread.

Is this still the case? Would signing up a sibling have to go under the “friend” category?

Yes, a sibling would be added as a friend.
