Yes, you could approach the upgrade a couple different ways. If you want earliest available upgrade, list all the bases in your bid and you'll probably get EWR or LGA. The system will award more senior bases (if listed in your bid) when it can (when your seniority allows). Some FOs wait until they can hold the base they really want as CA, and therefore avoid the bases they don't want.

MIA FO: 69 bidders. Bottom 5 DOH: 8/17, 8/17, 7/17, 6/17, 6/17
MIA CA: 92 bidders. Bottom 5 DOH: 3/15, 1/15, 12/14, 12/14, 4/14
Elsewhere in the forum I said someone from 12/17 was in MIA but either they aren't there anymore or I was mistaken.

I’ll probably end up commuting to LGA since that seems like a decent commute from MIA.
