for those curious on training footprint..7/24 doh for me. Check ride scheduled 10/15. Guys in my class (the non AQP ones) have checkrides varying from 10/10-10/26. I have a 2.5 week break after systems testing and 10 days off after EFPT. Less than 3 months day 1 to checkride if no new delays. Even with the delays it’s not bad.

War Eagle and good luck on your checkride. Looking at a possible new career for this 2000 grad.

This thread has been really interesting to see how things evolve over time with respect to junior lineholders at each of the bases, but as a prospective new hire, I'd really appreciate having some additional information if it's readily available:

- Junior DOH at each base. Not just lineholders, but if I'm looking to move into a new base relative to what I picked at training, it would be useful to have an idea of how long before I could move to a base, regardless of being on reserve or not. I certainly get the sense it's fairly easy to get whatever base you want (which isn't MIA, IAH TBD...) shortly after training, but just having that info would be helpful.

- Junior captain award DOH. Again, not just lineholder, but reserve, as well. My biggest concern with Republic is the length of upgrades relative to some other airlines out there. Having this info would be beneficial as it would provide some context for not only what the times are like now, but how they've changed over time.

I would probably be ok with a 2-year upgrade time (others seem to be bottoming out at 15-18 months these days), but if it starts looking like 3 or more is likely, I need to factor in my overall career progression, too.

Can anyone be of some help with these numbers?

I can look into providing some of the other information but that might take some research. Currently upgrading captains are around 2-2.5 years, but in our new hire class they told us to expect 18-24 month upgrades.

That's great news! Thanks, Auburn! I'm really excited about the prospect of Republic, I just have to weigh my desire (but not demand) of staying in Austin vs. the possibility of non-commutable trips.

I came on board late last year. I went to the new IAH base as soon as it opened. The answer to the question of what base you will be assigned is difficult to say, even for the folks in the company that work in that department. Anything except MIA and IAH are very well possible, with the most likely candidates being CMH, LGA/EWR, IND, and PIT. But, within 6 months from DOH someone from my class was at every base.

Unfortunately, captain base seniority is different. As of now, the earliest available upgrade is at EWR or LGA and is currently happening at 2.5 years from DOH. PIT is available a few months later. IAH and ORD are (currently) the most senior, requiring 4.5 years to get there.

Life as an FO can be pretty good pretty quickly, but once you upgrade getting back to the base you prefer and getting off reserve is more difficult.

What about CMH for upgrade time?

Being such a large base (second only to EWR), you'd think a captain award would come pretty quickly, but CMH junior CA DOH is 3/15.

Again, not to confuse people who have not been in this industry. Captain awards are based off your seniority, not base. If you chose to upgrade (Republic doesn’t force upgrade), where you get assigned as a Captain can be different from where you were based as an FO. You can have a standing bid for any base you want, but you will not get moved until space opens up and your seniority allows it.

I did not realize this. Thanks for the clarification
