If a new hire bids MCI while waiting for/knowing it will take 6-12 months to get MIA are they getting MCI by the end of OE or are they doing a few month stint in the NE?

Just curious, where did you hear 6-12mo to MIA? That’s awesome if it’s true!

I’ve got one buddy flying here that looked it up for me in March after the April Bid (? I don’t know all the terminology on bidding or how it works yet) and he said most junior MIA was a 3/21/17 hire. So that was/is right at a year and he and some on the forum seem to think the IAH base opening will pull some senior MIA pilots who live in the south but are closer to/prefer Houston. I guess 6-12 months may be a little wishful thinking. Maybe 9-12 is a better expectation and it’s all assuming the flying in MIA for Republic stays at the current level or better (Envoy is supposedly cheaper for AA to use as WO and they are getting E-175s at some point I believe). Let me caveat all of that with I’m not on property yet so take what little I know with a grain of salt but since you asked, that’s what I got. Exciting times for those of us wanting Miami hopefully.

If you want Miami, don't come to Republic. Envoy will get you there much faster. When you eventually get Miami you'll still be on reserve forever

Meh. Better airplane, better pay, better work rules. I’ll gladly sit Reserve in MIA from my couch vs at the airport. My families in KC so hoping for MCI until I can get MIA. To each their own.

Interesting - I like the optimism! They told me 18-24mo at the interview. I am entertaining “pre-CJO’s” from both Envoy and Republic, but need to make a decision ASAP. MIA is a huge selling point since I live near Orlando, but 170’s and increased hourly at RAH are attractive. I welcome all opinions.

Yeah I’m in the same can’t decide boat here. Live 2 hrs from MIA, but if I go envoy I get there faster but also get forced upgrade back to LGA at some point. Unless they fix stuff in the next 18 months with better pay and reserve rules. The higher pay, better reserve and A/C is nice at republic also. Moving back to NY is not on my to do list but will deal if needed.

Does anyone think that with IAH opening up it will take some off the long list of bids for MIA and lower the transfer times? Or are they going to run a bunch of classes directly into Texas to stock that base up for a few months?

Default FO bases!

This is probably off topic, but I was curious what the process is after interviewing? Do they email or call you with a conditional offer? How long is the offer valid for?

Also, could anyone tell me how junior the following bases are?

MCI
IND
IAD
LGA
IAH

How long could one expect to sit on reserve at these bases?

I know IAH does not open until July, but I was just curious how junior it would be on the FO side.

If I was a new hire and assigned any of the above bases at first, what would be the best way to work toward getting IAH? I am absolutely committed to doing my dues, but getting IAH would be my primary goal.

Lastly, if I were say, 45. Is base selection assigned based on DOB? Where would someone mid 40's place in choice of bases?

I know it's a lot to ask of y'all. Just weighing out options at this point. Please go easy on me, I am trying to learn all the 121 jargon, etc.

Thank you all!
