This. I don't mind commuting because I get 17-18 days off a month and whatever days I want off. I'd rather commute to that than sit reserve living in base.

Yep. Another big $1.50. I hope that big pay raise will help that 75 hours a month for a couple of years while everyone is on reserve.

How is QoL measured? Total days off? Commutable schedule? Less 4/5 trips? Home more nights? Weekends and holidays off? Check out Island Air in Hawaii. Home every day/night. Work a holiday? Still home that day/night. Start early and end by 1230ish and still have the rest of the day off. Or start at 1230ish and you're able to wake up and spend the morning with family... and still get home that night.

Yes Hawaii is expensive, but manageable and when you shop around, you can find less expensive areas to live. It's still 121 and transitioning to a respectable aircraft (Q400). Hiring street captains, btw. Only one base-HNL- so you don't need to worry about getting shuffled around the system. 5k relocation payout. 12k bonus paid out over 18 months. Payscale for payscale, our CA and FO are right there with the current top dogs, if not better, in comparable aircraft/seat config (Q400/CRJ700). Sure Island Air doesn't have JETS or a flow, but it has the home every night QoL.

This is ridiculous. One can only measure QOL by being somewhere. Except Mesa. We can all agree Mesa is a steaming pile of horse excrement.

Emphasis on the steaming while in Arizona

Mesa doesn't look all bad. Or is this really deceptive?

Mesa was a very easy job. I loved being a CA over there. What I didn't like was my checking account, no healthcare, very limited flexibility in scheduling, strong suspicions of getting fumed by turbine oil in the packs, and commuting. I was forced out by finances, having to go to the market place for decent health insurance for my family.
