Default How about the CRJ?

I'm trying to find out what base I might get for the CRJ... the wife unit needs to find a job wherever we go.

I hear that SLC is junior, but I am wondering about Chicago or if any newhires will be getting Milwaukee when it opens. I wouldn't mind Denver but the wifey doesn't like snow

Right now any of the large bases are available to new-hires due to growth and movement. I would expect MKE to be pretty junior in the long run once they get more than a few airplanes in place.

However, there are a lot of senior people in California and SLC, and to a lesser extent in DEN. If you're OK with living in Chicago that would probably provide the best long-term seniority progression, and you would be able to upgrade early without relocating.

If you live in SAN, PSP is an option...the two-hour drive once a week is not a big deal, cuz you know exactly when you have to leave (unlike commuting as a non-rev). Non-reving to DEN or SLC takes at least an hour to get to the airport and board, then 2 hours flight time, plus you had to arrive 3-6 hours EARLY in case the first flight didn't work out...that could be 9 hours out of your day. The two-hour drive with no TSA and your preferred tunes cranked up ain't so bad...
Fantastic, thank you. I'm interviewing in the next 1-2 weeks and looking forward to joining the team if I get hired.

I was curious if someone could rank the bro bases from junior to senior.

I'm in Fresno now finishing up my Com and IFR. Then going to do the Dreaded MAPD program fly with Mesa for a year get some 121 time and then apply at Skywest. End goal would be to fly out of SBP/SMX.

Thanks guys

For all you FAT guys remember be nice to those tomahawks and seminoles.

Thanks for that info. How easy is it to move around?...for example, if i start at LAX reserve, is it difficult to then bid for a line spot somewhere?

I really am pretty naive when it comes to this stuff =)

I think your wife would be suprised to see how little snow Denver really gets. Normally the snow stays in the foothills ( except this year ), Denver would be a great place to live. I think I read somewhere that they ave. close to 300 days of sunshine and annual ave temp is like 45/47. Unfornuately they do have the Broncos for a home team .

Out of DEN,MKE,ORDand SLC , DEN would by far have the best overall climate. SLC would be a very close second.

I came from California (the best climate in the U.S), and I was pretty happy with the Denver climate. March, April, May, September, and October are GREAT climate wise. June, July, and August were warm, but certainly in line with the majority of the country (minus the humidity, there is hardly any humidity in Denver). We do get snow, but I bet we get less snow than Chicago and Milwalkie. And what you have to remember is that the weather can change a lot out here. It is not uncommon to have snow one day, and then 50 degree sunny weather the next day in the winter. The Denver area is DEFINATELY the best climate of your four choices.

If you truly want the best climates, go to one of the myraid of Skywest's California bases, but otherwise Denver is one of the better climates in the US.

No, you can switch domiciles every month if you want (they might get tired of giving you move days every month though).

Once you put in a bid for a new domicile, you will get the next opening, unless one or more senior pilots have also bid for it. The larger bases (SLC, ORD, DEN, FAT) usually have openings monthly.
