Ok, gotcha. Good luck.

Don't listen to someone who doesn't work at RAH. Listen to those who do. I do, and I like it a lot. As do many other people hired within the past 2 years. Feel free to PM me. It's sad to see someone from Skywest make claims that working at RAH is terrible when they have no first hand experience. The future looks bright at RAH, especially with all 3 majors signing agreements, and an impending exit from BK. Movement will be fluid here.

I am torn between moving back to NYC for RAH. I live in the SW currently. I can live in brooklyn with my mother while on Rsv until i hold a line) with RAH. That or going to ORD with Envoy and a uncertainty of when i can bid DFW. Im nervous i could be the companies hore and get stuck in ORD with CRJ700.

Beyond "flow" to AA, i'm asking my self would i be happy IF i got stuck at RAH for whatever reason (9/11 or 2008 like Aviation Armageddon)

Hows rent in Queens? How about EWR?

We live in the White Plains/Rye area so we aren't right right in the city. We love the area but the cost of living is very high. Luckily we both work so we can afford to do things but would prefer to live somewhere cheaper and not have to stress about money as much. Where we live it is anywhere from $1200 (sketchier) to $2500 a month for a one bedroom apartment. A few of my friends live in Yonkers and pay around $1000 a month for a really small place. In the NYC area all the rage is about Endeavor it seems like and I can understand why. But I am trying to look down the road as well which is why RAH keeps coming in the picture.

Don't go to RJET if you're thinking about going back to the midwest. Although they advertise MCI ORD IND MIA CMH, they are all "Super Lifer" senior , since the recent base closures. If you go to Republic, your going to NY. (for a long time)

RAH was my first choice, i interviewed with 3 other airlines before my first choice. Then i got confused and torn after Republic was my last offer. Plus it took forever for HR/Recruiting Rep to get back to me also. Even after i got the offer. I called & left vm... no return calls. For nearly two weeks with an "i'm sorry i was busy half hearted appology. Then a force to get me to quite my job in 1 week. I HONESTLY FELT LIKE JUST A NUMBER to her. vs Commutair & Envoys' family and strong pilot group vibe. Didnt get that at RAH interview at all. Was purely, go go go, next question. So the quality & personality of the pilots in the group is amiss to me. Does not seem to be screened. They don't seem to give a "rats ass" as long as u qualify. Just fill seats. ****y insulting, hazardous attitude pilot? Who cares. Great guy and personality pilot? Who cares! Who cares your a number. I felt so rushed in that skype interview by HR rep not the pilo. I guess cut the bull & recruite is the motto.

Commutair was by far more enjoyable overall. Really friendly genuine fun & friendly personalities. We voiced how we would be a great fit for each other (Commutair). I'd take the EWR base, huge growth, fast upgrade for E145 not far from family & friends, fraternity bros, my mothers' amazing cooking! If based in EWR, I could get NYC vibe when i want w/o enduring the costs of Varrazano bridge, GW bridge, high rent, and high taxes of NYC. Not to mention NYC is not a place i want to raise my family having grown up in the inner city and projects. I could stay away from NYC's filths & corruptions (lol), and did i mention high ass taxes & police everywhere & high car Insurance. Monthly MTA transportation passes costs like $140 (+/- $10) per month. Bridge toll is rediculous im NYC. So I'll eventually move out to NJ/EWR after commuting for a few short months, or holding a line.

RAH, I love the pay, growth, and huge company Investments in QOL of pilots. EJet is awesome cool factor machine, 2 class cabins. Bigger jet, i'd have GREATER overseas marketability if i soo choose to trigger that option after a few yrs at RAH. LGA is like 30 mins drive from my mothers house which is where i would stay while on Rsv as LGA is currently a jr base. My girlfriend does not mind the move anywhere I go.

RAH has a secured & strong future (with AA also now i read). RAH mgmt is turning around their relationship with their pilots (or so i've heard). Lots of base options, i can bid other bases (so i heard) if/when i hold seniority.

RAH union has been very very strong! RAH owns a lot of their aircraft. Mgmt has had growth ambitions greater than being a FFD. RAH will be around a while.
RAH is recruiting & filling classes! Its has lots of bases. RAH is less likely to lose LGA & EWR bases due to recent growth and consolidation decisions. RAH will be a leaner and more efficent.

I hear people say RAH has and will closed a lot of its bases. These are complaints from pilots not at RAH. RAH pilots are happier and optomitic than i've heard (spoken), or read at many other regionals i.e. Envoy, Compass, AWC, GoJet, Mesa, Horizon. Some of the forums are depressing & insulting. Sheesh.

As i write this i guess i'm convincing myself to join the RAH pilot group or C5 pilot group. But pay, recruiting growth, lower upgrade time, base options to live outside of the East Coast, 76seater Ejet in my home town (which is the future of regional FFD traffic and growth, as majors have said they will park 50 seaters soon enough). RAH has a strong pilot group that has stood STRONG over the past 8 years; these all makes RAH my #1 choice again.

Commutair growth and upgrade is a huge deal for me. But still, the pay is not up to part with 1st three-four of yrs @ RAH and beyond. Including
8-20 yr mark much higher pay rates. Much greater than Envoy. I do hope and pray I move on to a major before 8yr mark for sure tho. I can also always go international as many have, and are doing.

Would love to hear comments from RAH pilots or prospects RAH pilots.

Take what you just wrote here into serious consideration. Where do you want to be in 8 years and what is your definition of a "major"? Don't expect any of the big 3 to be knocking down your doors within the next 8 years simply because you have some TPIC or you flew the EJET. I'm not saying it's not possible, but too many new guys are treating this career as a sprint and not the marathon that it is.

You're making a lot of assumptions about rah. Especially since it's still a very fluid situation with bankruptcy. Although some would have you believe that the path out of BK is clear, the reality is that it's quite obscured at the moment.

Do you have any recommendations for the Midwest then? Compass and Skywest seem to be the best choices for anything in the Midwest/West it seems like.
