No debt. A great nest egg because I got hired at a legacy with a degree. Do I use it? Yes. Everyday. There's is a difference. Those with the degrees understand. Sorry if it comes off wrong, not trying to be a jerk. It's just something I believe people should do. The most important part is that the people doing the hiring think this as well.

Won't it be great to just get in the time machine and go back to that one specific couple-year timeframe in the 60s?

So much easier than actually going to college and getting a degree to get hired today, right?

Well, I suppose we could just let a bunch of regional guys feed each other bad information.

But that's not exactly the spirit of a forum, is it.

.... and yet the regionals are offering 15k+ bonuses, and never mentioning a college degree as a requirement....

I'm not angry... I am excited.

True! How many thousands of people are applying to Delta, United, AA... you have to make yourself the most marketable. Or go somewhere you don't need the degree.

Who do you think is more marketable?

2000+ hours under part 121, EFIS... no college degree

or...

1000 hours as a CFI with an ERAU Degree?

Who would you hire?

It doesn't matter what any of us on this forum think, since we aren't setting hiring standards at any of the major airlines.

It is their show; they set the rules, regardless of if any of us think it makes any sense or not. We are joining them, they're not joining us.

The majors have a 4-year degree required right now, and there's no sign of that going away any time soon. Even the dropping of many 1K TPIC requirements doesn't mean that suddenly it doesn't matter if you don't have TPIC anymore.

Well, no.... it's not their show anymore.

I was around during the PFT dark ages.

Pilots are now in demand. Enjoy it.

Well considering the Riddle guy, he's probably done more to show how passionate he is about aviation and how badly he wants the best career since he got a degree?

Last I checked the majors wanted a degree unless you did a flow path.

Wait one more year....

(and by the way, most ERAU grads are spoon fed pukes, with their parents paying off their loans)
