Picked this up on another message board.

Is this a ploy by republic airways
.

Since trying to convince/arm twist them did not bare any fruit. It would be funny if this was a ploy by RAH. To get the leasing companies and mainline carriers to cancel bad leases and renegotiate the contracts. Basically work with us or we are all screwed. Republic could ask the court to dismiss the BK because they resolved their issues with creditors. ETC. Less

It sounded foolish when the contract was signed years ago. But depending on how you you look at it. Could be a great thing
Colgan had a similar clause. When the Q400s went to Republic the were "returned" first. This separated the pilots from the airplanes. Unless the group is tied to a serial number there are ways around that kind of clause.

I agree. De value the airline and see what happens

What if the BK judge forced them to liquidate the 175s they own in order to cover the debts. This liquidation on the shuttle side alone would cover the remaining terms on the leases for the 145s and Q400s. Why would the creditors not demand this?

Republic just put a bankruptcy judge in the driver's seat. This judge does not necessarily care about BBs promises to the pilots or even the future of the company. It is the judges job make sure the creditors get what they are owed within reason.

I'm not saying this is what is going to happen. It is just some food for thought.

Stability. The airlines are concerned with Republic's presence in Chicago.

American has passed a pilot poaching bonus scheme specifically targeting republic pilots with prior 121 experience not coincidentally that aligned with republics bk filing.

This isn't going to be cut and dry, or clean. They already missed that boat. My opinion is that this isn't going to end well for republic pilots.

I don't know what is going to happen, but i wouldn't assume all is going to be fine and well. This bk filing will counteract the pilot contract in pilot retention/hiring effectiveness, and staffing could cause the company to spiral out of control. Planes that can't be operated will not be retained, that is for sure.
All part of the game. So Repubic says please pay us more because we're losing money and we are trying to avoid bankruptcy? Mainline partner thinks. What for, after they come out of bankruptcy their costs will be similar.

Good luck living in your fantasy land, but I believe your rainbows are going to get rained on.

Bankruptcy never works out in the favor of the pilots, but BB is good for it right?

That's the rub, the deep pocket lawyers can always find a loophole. Again, good Frikn luck. I wouldn't trust him farther than I could throw him

Well.. Yes that would be bad.. As the AA and DL flying would go away. And all United would want is a quick acsess to a E175/190 program..
