Skywest? In the same boat at Republic? Nope. They will be in business for quite some time. They offer a good product and are a versatile company.
I think Republic and Air Wisconsin have the most to worry about right now.

That doesn't solve RAH's pilot shortage issue, it only makes it worse. The so called "don't let the door hit you in the ass" philosophy will play out as there is nothing to lose at a 40% pay cut.
There is no good long term options for RAH, or any regional for that matter. The business model no longer works for anyone. RAH's only long term survival chance comes from becoming the competition.

If you are going to paycut down to 50,000 or less, just start over at an LCC. There is no difference. You are only a lifer at RAH assuming you are making 100,000 or more. Once that stops, there's no reason to stay, might as well take advantage of the boom and move on. Maybe you can't get on with a legacy but there will be plenty of opportunity at an LCC.

What that means to me is that pilots at non-wholly owned airlines are going to get mopped up by the majors first (where else would they be going?), while pilots at the wholly owned airlines are going to be artificially stagnated to maintain staffing (why else would they be staying?).
Doesn't sound like anything worth being concerned about to me, as a pilot.

The difference between SkyWest and Republic is XJT is not obligated on the leases.. CO/UA was. So SkyWest just droped the aircraft... XJT is still lossing money. But i bet SKY inc nips it faster now not to go down the Republic road...

We went through this same deal at Eagle during bankruptcy. Attrition is about to spike off the bottom of the list from all the people with nothing to lose. Recruiting ability is dead for the time being due to uncertainty. It's a snowball effect. People that were comfortable line holding FO's and Ca's start to slide backwards towards reserve because everyone junior below them is bailing out, then at the same time the fleet is shrinking due to shedding aircraft in BK.. stagnation and constantly losing people below you sets in, which makes moral drop and even more mid-junior people bail.. Downgrades and domicile displacements may or may not happen but (they did with the recent Eagle and Pinnacle BK FYI), which even further scares potential new hires away. Bottom line is when Attrition is way up + no recruitment ability + losing aircraft = bad for career progression and any upward movement!
This is why people are saying get out EARLY and don't waste your time stagnating or going backwards for years, we have lived it before. Absolutely nothing good is coming in the next couple years. It will be "at least" 3-4 years before the BK pain starts to subside for the employee's. Look at the history of every airline bankruptcy over the last 20 years and see what those pilots suffered through. It is a common theme with all of them. If it was a Legacy carrier final destination, obviously that is different, sure, there is justification for staying through the pain and waiting for things to turn around. It isn't though. It's just a crap regional and everyone else with better prospects is hiring.
