Hey, I respect your post. Great point. I have denied boarding to someone a total of zero times. I've never been in this situation. I'm not even sure I would know if this happened. It's more of a point that no one sticks up for regional crewmembers, ALPA doesn't, our company doesn't, mainline for sure doesn't, so we are left to stand up for ourselves. Maybe then our partners really would notice.

Who owns said "Mesa metal". Last time I looked the plane only said "Operated by Mesa Airlines". I think if you wanna compare the size of your genitalia over an extended period of time, you will be sad when they present the bigger junk, and award "your" airplanes to another regional.

But don't worry you'll be able to visit that RJ in Africa, SE Asia or the desert real soon after you've moved to mainline and reminisce about you against the world.

Hey there twinkle toes. You don't have passengers unless you get them from your mainline partner and if you want that business (uuuuh and a job) then they'll ask you to play by the rules. Goes the same for all the majors.

So yes, in this case "operated by Mesa Airlines" also means "owned by Mesa Airlines."

Vacation passes are a limited quantity. They compete on seniority across all vacation pass holders. If the express person is senior then they would go first.
I really wouldn't get so spun up about this issue. You will most likely be replaced in 4-5 years when UA rebids the express contract and the next lowest bidder steps up to the plate. You get replaced the new company gets your planes and you get to start over again. That does throw a wrench into you getting senior to compete for a vacation pass though......
If you don't like the UA boarding priority system take it up with your company. Don't screw the people that are only using the system. That is really childish and speaks of a very insecure person with a RJ for life career path.

If you show up for a UA Jumpseat and were denied for another legacy carrier pilot I suspect you and the other posters creating their own boarding system for nonrevs would cry foul and create a scene. You would be the higher priority and yet you were denied boarding. Hightly suspect you wouldn't go quietly. However, when you decide to start creating policy you have no issue with stepping outside of the system. It is logic and thinking like this as to why you are still flying an RJ in the largest hiring spree since 9/11.

Let me guess, you went to a regional at 250 hours? I am willing to bet I have quite a few more piston hours flying in Indian country than you, even with you taking a longer path for your flight training. Your ignorance shows no bounds. You have been an FO for how long? That doesn't make you any better than the next guy. Sorry if you've been unable to build any TPIC, that is no ones fault except for your own poor decision making.

Are you 100% sure you want to kick over that ant hill? You're basically advocating applying a brand new policy based on YOUR personal lens of fairness after there is already a policy in place that has been agreed to by the parties involved (you are not one of those parties btw). I mean, I guess if you want to be one of those PICs who micromanage every thing then fine (and the FAA says you can be), but I really don't think non-rev boarding priority falls under your sphere. But hey, you're the big bad PIC right (or want to be)? However, a big part of being a PIC is knowing when to make a stand and what leg to stand on. So when you get called onto the carpet (and you most likely will be for something like this) you'd better have a darn good leg to stand on. Do you?
