RAH most junior captain is a September 2011 hire I believe. If the company can attract pilots I see upgrade dropping to 2.5-2 years, if not then maybe 3-3.5. In the recent months there has been a lot of attrition. 30-55 a month are leaving. For now RAH is staying about the same size but is very understaffed. RAH needs about 300 more pilots to be properly staffed. With 30 to 50 a month leaving they need to hire about 100 a month to get back to normal staffing in 2016. If you come to RAH now your quality of life will be good for a new hire FO in most bases because there are not many reserves, some are getting lines right out of training.

Current upgrade time is only the upgrade time for those currently upgrading. It has no bearing for a new hire. PSA and Compass hired a huge % of their pilot group over the last 1-2 years to cover massive attrition and growth. A new hire coming there today will not experience the same "quick upgrade" unless the companies go through another phase of massive attrition and growth, which isn't likely to happen in this market.
On top of that, the majority of those getting the "quick upgrade" had prior 121 time to upgrade above other deferrals, who as a result saw their upgrade time extend. RAH can't staff their airline appropriately and has been shrinking and showing no signs of going the other way. Going there will mean your upgrade time will be longer than if you went to a regional that isn't shrinking and has similar captain attrition. It will be even longer than at one with higher captain attrition (Endeavor via SSP agreement with Delta). |

At Endeavor for 8 years now and still waiting for the left seat.
Sogtivr6- Shouldn't the upgrades be coming down with the 200s coming as well as movement off the top? A recruiter told me a new hire could expect less than 3 yrs to upgrade. I know its all speculation but is that reasonable with added airframes and attrition? |

Mostly Sprit Jetblue, atlas, allegiant. There are some going to other regionals that have time for a faster upgrade. About 10 to 15 percent going to Delta, Southwest, United, American. Every once in a while you hear of a guy going to Fedex or UPS.
