As for reserves, I would much rather hold a line right out of the gate but we both know that is not going to happen. I have always wanted to fly Jets and there is no point going into this with a ****ed off mind. That only makes you hate your job. If you love your job and still able to have a work/life balance then all is well. Most of the posts on here have been negative. I appreciate the con's as well as the pro's. Everyone will have different opinions. Some will get lucky based on seniority/equipment. If people truly hate their job then why are they still there, I never really understood that part. But hey, it takes all kinds to make a world.

I feel this place is starting to look like Comair. Insanely senior captains where most that have been here more than 10 years are here to stay. FO's approaching 9 years of seniority with no upgrade is a bit troubling as well.
Yes, for a couple of years one's tolerance to the FFD shenanigans will be high. But many like myself have endured a pretty crappy regional experience. I personally was on reserve as an FO for almost 5 years. For our sake, please never sell yourself short. Just like physics always trying to kill you when you're flying, always know that management is actively seeking ways to exploit your passion throughout your early years as an FO for a regional. Be on guard for sketchy offers and remember it is a job that was hardly free to obtain. Maybe it was for you, but for many it was not. We owe it to ourselves to stand by our self-worth.

Another question; I was talking with a past ExpressJet pilot, he said they are going to EFB. Surface 3's?? How soon is this going to be brought on line. I have an offer from a friend for a leather chart bag.. one that was purchased from the company. He said he paid 150 but will sell it for 75. Is it worth it? If they go EFB then i won't need it, how soon till they go electronic.
Welcome aboard!

You can PM me, but what base and/or plane? I'm a 2011 hire, and I spend I think it was 14 months on reserve before holding a line consistently since then, with the exception of 1 month where I miss-bid by accident.

It's safe to assume he/she was late 07- early 08. Base choices back then were ATL or ATL!

Speaking of reserve, was talking with 2 Xjet pilots recently who said that if/when a new contract is arranged, there will/might be a different reserve system where junior people do a mixture of trips and reserve days (sort of like Delta FAs). Anyone heard that?
