I've asked about the scope elsewhere, but the ORF-EWR-DFW and DFW-IAD-ORF routing all being on a RJ is a bit out there. Living where we live, RJs are a fact of life unless you can find a Delta or SWA flight that works, but SW's city pairing often means you can't book CLT-BWI-ORF even though the flights go that way.

Is ORF this "uncommutable"?

If she really "understood" all that stuff from being married to a pilot, she sure is missing a lot of points in her post. Shouldn't a pilot's wife know that scheduled block can often be exceeded with a little thing called the jet stream?

Some things I found interesting:

she says "Thank you for reminding me why I hate your airline and why I avoid flying your airline at all costs." The reason why United continues to get away with poor customer service is because of people like her. When you are buying for convenience and price even though you know you'll be dissatisfied with the service, you are telling the company that convenience and price are all that's important.

she says "When you know at 4am that your flight at 2pm will be delayed..." At least they had the courtesy of updating it. If I had a dollar for every time I saw a creepy delay when I knew it would be hours before it actually, I'd be rich. The regionals are struggling to staff their operation because of poor pay. When you have a weather event move through the east coast, rolling delays are probable because the regionals are staffing their airlines with the fewest amount of people...and some are even parking airplanes to keep up with attrition.

Regional jets have nothing to do with distance flown. E-175s and CRJ900s are routinely being put on routes like St Louis to San Fran. It is all economics. The passengers wants to pay the lowest fair and/or be able to travel whenever it is most convenient for them. That's why the regional jet has been so successful.

1-C-1-b At least eighty percent (80%) of all United Express Flights each month shall be under 900 statute miles
There also is as well as has been provisions on the block hour count/ratio as well.

Don't know what RJs she flew on, but CRJs are as fast as mainline. You just have to get the -200 to altitude first. But due to fuel conservation everyone is flying slow nowadays.

It looks like she's flown ual a few times. She should use the rights she has as a consumer and take her money somewhere else.

That's the plan now. She's flown UAL so much because I have a metric butt ton of United miles, so we've used them to fly her where I am working.

Both the Navy, two oil companies and two DoD contractors have flown me United almost exclusively, so I have a ton of miles.

I've personally been stranded overseas by United and waited two days to be rebooked, before I said eff it and flew home on Virgin on my own dime. Wasn't going to be late to my own wedding.

Oh, didn't you know, North America is a "region". Some examples at XJT:

Houston-Bahamas, Toronto-Houston, Houston-LAX (via) Durango, Mexico, Houston-Ixtapa, Mexico. All flown on the 50 seat E-145.

Do you realize that if you give the McD's fry-guy a ration of sh1t and then place an order from him, he is going to ejaculate on your Big Mac?

If you don't, then please don't come on to a message board full of pilots bemoaning the market wages in their industry of choice and bemoan on said board the customer service that exists at the prices above which you will not participate in the market.

Good day.
