This is what they told us on Wed the 10th when I went to the open house in Chicago. Most people are going to be in the CRJ. The next class coming up is Jan 22 with new classes starting every three weeks after that. Upgrade time are to stay low and CRJ upgrade will be coming down by there forcasts as well. They need pilots for all there new routes (Mexico and Midwest flying) and airplanes they are getting (At least 3 a month). They are also losing at least 22 a month to the majors. The fastest way to an interview is an open house or job fair. I saw there schedule when I made my interview date and they are busy with job interviews and job fairs right now so it may take a little time for them to call if you applied online.

App to call can vary from hours to weeks. If you are 121, you might get called same day without going to the open house, likewise if someone walks your resume in.
If you don't have 121 time or extensive turbine time, go to a group interview.
The EMB upgrade will probably stay low as long as there is all this jet growth. A lot of jet and bro FO's decide just to wait a few more months for the jet upgrade rather than do the bro upgrade and get seat-locked. If you want, it's yours (if you have the time).

I have plenty of prior crew turboprop PIC (Part 135). So I would really like to go after the Bro upgrade. I figure a year in the left seat of the Bro can't be that bad.
Here's to hoping for that call soon...

ok here's the gig. I'm still waiting on my 6 months till I can reapply to skywest. I've studied like crazy and have been flying my pants off. Should I go back for a group interview or just email HR? Also my interview date was Sept 25th. Do I have to wait till March 25th which would be EXACTLY 6 months or do I just have to wait till March 1? Cause remember 6 months by 121 standards:
Whenever a crewmember or aircraft dispatcher who is required to take recurrent training, a flight check, or a competency check, takes the check or completes the training in the calendar month before or after the month in which that training or check is required, he/she is considered to have taken or completed it in the calendar month in which it was required.(14 CFR 121.401)
So would March 1, or even Febuary count as my six months?
Any ideas?

I think it is to the day, HR isn't required to use 121 rules,
Since you already interviewed, you essentially have preferential treatment for your next interview (unless you did something REALLY bad on the first one). Call HR 2-3 weeks prior to your 6 month date, and tell them you would like to re-interview and hopefully they can get you in the first interview after your 6 months is up.

I'm current 121 and have been for some time, my app has been submitted since 1/1 and no response yet. We'll have to wait and see...

If you know someone at SKW, have him/her walk your resume in...that should get you a call.
If not, you should go to a group interview at some. How long you wait is up to you...with your experience I would still think they will call you on their own.
Note: It is very likely that they will put you in the jet. You can take the bro upgrade from the right seat of the jet, but if you know you want the bro for sure ask them if they can hire you into it. A little right seat time first would make the upgrade easier.

The relatively quick upgrade on the EMB has me thinking this might be a good move.

Maybe they're a little slow recovering from the holidays?

I was going to try to go to the group interview in ORD, but had a family thing that conflicted. And the rest of my month is toast with work.
I have about 500 hours of prior CRJ time, so I'm sure they would really like to put me in the jet. I was thinking what you said too, that some FO time in the Bro would help once my number came up for the upgrade.
Thanks for all the insight....keep it comin!

For what its worth, I'm in the same boat...I got the "you're hired" fedex package early December and have been waiting for a class date as well. I've also heard from internal pilots that the next class date, as stated above, for the bro is March 5th. Just waiting for the official word from HR. Anyways, see you in class in March, hopefully
