All companies have their pros and cons, at least they have flying for years to come.

Well at least as long as they can staff the flying. Wouldn't plan on upgrading if you go to RAH now.

Not if they run out of pilots. Eventually you can my a hamburger so cheap that nobody wants to take a bite out of. Republic is that Hamburger.

Your point? Compass and PSA are comparable, and TSA is hiring CQFOs which will probably never see the right seat. All of which have CBAs worlds better than Mesa...
My point, as a prior Mercury guy is that- it's asinine that people are going to work at a place like RAH when places like Compass, Mesa, PSA and Trans States are offering such quick upgrades... along with basic things such as line guarantee/CNX pay.

Going to RAH right now, is essentially committing career progression suicide.

Republic is for pilots who want to be career FO's and pilots who are ok with never, ever, going over min guarantee. If you can live with those two drawbacks it might be an ok place for you.

Piedmont pilots who only fly 37-50 turbo props earn a higher overall income than Mesa pilots and their upgrade time is getting close to Mesa's. I would recommend going to Piedmont before Mesa, they even have a real flow.

You might be right. We just announced another 8 upgrades for March. Upgrade is about to drop now to just 2 years. Plus the fact they are gearing up for the 145's might just be a good opportunity for many. The RJ will go Junior for sure because of the Flow.

Default Is RAH really that bad?

This forum is such a rumor mill it's not even funny. So many people talking out of their ass. Career FO? Are you joking me ? If you think a 4-5 year upgrade is a career a suggest you get a new one. That's what the upgrade is going to be here if you get hired today. It could be 3 years if we hire and get a new contract or it could be longer but jeez the whining is getting annoying. This place is what you make of it and it's different for everyone at a person to person level. There are FOs at RAH getting lines right out of training on the republic side.

Hey if that's what you need to say to yourself to cope with the situation I understand. But let's not delude ourselves into thinking there is some kind of silver lining at a company that's gone without a new contract for 8 years. The most likely conclusion is there will be shrinking and downgrades at Republic because they can't get FO's to staff the flying, like what's happening at Endeavor today, all in the midst of the "great hiring boom".

Let's face it, there are CFI's out there today who haven't been hired yet at an airline like PSA or TSA who will still be your Captain at mainline in the future.

So what? Is that a bad thing? It worked out well for them then. I'm not the type to get jealous. For me personally I wouldn't have felt comfortable upgrading in a year from CFI to 121 airline. I don't think I would have been safe. But if some can handle it all the more power to them. Good for them if that happens. For me personally 3 years is a perfect timeline for upgrade. It's like watching jealous school girls on here that are all worried about what every one else is doing.. My advice is grow a brain and make decisions for yourself don't let anyone steer you in any direction.
