Problem: Many current CFIs are working for the same first or second-year wages but flying Cessna 172s. Their childhood dream was not to fly a Cessna 172, it was to fly a jet. Good luck getting them to not work for the same wages they are currently earning while fulfilling their childhood dream.

Um, you do realize Right to Work came to many states 25+ yeas ago. Guys building Nissan's in MS make less than half what the rust belt made in the 70's without adjusting for inflation. Pretty much all trade labor hasn't gone anywhere for 30+ years.

Speak for yourself, I got my first ME job with a S/E commercial, talk about high speed add on. Once I had my commercial S/E, I never paid one penny to fly a plane, haven't since, and unless it's my plane, never will.

That's high on the list of reasons that I'll be stepping into a regional job as soon as possible and be glad for it.

We all went to work for substandard pay at a commuter, all for the time and chance to upgrade and get out.
The good news is the pay is a lot better than it used to be, the bad news is you tend to get stuck at the commuters a lot longer than pre-9/11.
