Problem with Jumpseating on Delta
#11
Thanks for the responses... I made it to CLT on Airways and will have no problem getting back to ORF.
I wasn't looking for sympathy nor did I think that denying any jumpseats would really solve anything. Next time I will take the advice and talk to the crew. I Appreciate all the help and that this thread didn't turn into a circus.

SInce you are the FO (assuming from your Avtar) you probably have little say anyway. If I were you I would look at it this way. In these upcoming hiring times at the Legacys, it seems more and more Important to have Internal recommendations. The more Legacy pilots who ride with you is more opportunity to get acquainted and open up a network to you. You never know who will sit on the interview board at UAL, AMR, NWA, CAL or DAL............or FedEX. Wouldn't you just love to show up to your interview and see that CAPT who's A$$ you saved by letting him/her ride on your jumpseat sitting across from you...................................or would you prefer to see him/her sitting across from you when he/she got a letter in his file because he missed a trip because you didn't let him ride? Your choice.
I see your point and agree with all but one thing;
I have been denied rides by mainline/legacy pilots before. Sadly, it always had more to do with his/her ingnorance of his/her own JS policy and FOM than the policy itself. If you remember, it wasn't that long ago that there was no CASS but if the company could electronically verify your employment, you COULD ride in the front of the airplane. I don't really think the high paid legacy pilot gave a sh1t rather or not this reginonal pilot was going to get a letter in his file for a missed trip, or whether or not I got home.
I would never be in a position to have said legacy pilot interview for a job at my company, although that would be pretty funny. But god forbid he/she ever tried to get a ride on an airplane where I had control of who rode on my JS.

First off, there are *********s no matter where you go. CAL, NWA, DAL, FEDEx and everyone else has a few. They aren't the norm, so don't think most Legacay Pilots don't give a SH*t.
Second, Never say never. There are many Furloughed mainline Pilots who are currently working at the regionals. You just never know. I has always been told "Be nice to the folks you pass on the way up because you never know when you might pass them again on the way down"
The water always seems to seek level out eventially. Fedex's jumpseat policy is a little different than most of the PAX side. We rarely accept walk up jumpseaters unless you can get to the Capt in the Outstation before he goes through security. In any case you and anyone else on our list are always welcome in my cockpit.
