Default Winner's and loser's of 2006

As we fly away into the new year I would like to start a thread that honors the regional carrier's through out the year of 2006. Best award for best carrier that I will issue, goes to four carriers that I feel deserve a lot of credit and not star ******ing their employees.

1) AWAC
2) HORIZON
3) XJT
4) AMR

In second place we have your : SKYWEST, PSA, MESABA (I sympathize with you) PINNACLE, REPUBLIC HOLDING, COMAIR, ASA, PIEDMONT, TSA.

The ones I feel got no chance at all because the like's of management had their privates so far up everyones rear end goes to: MESA AIR GROUP, it will be a relief when J.O pulls out and passes out. GOJET, Hulas K. is riding you guys dirty so is the rest of the industry. COLGAN, still feeling the pain after all these years. REGIONS, REST IN PEACE!!! If I forgot to mention your carrier it did'nt cross my mind. Ladies and gentleman I invite you to post your opinions and comments. I did not do this to stab any one in the back just my personal view.

Not just becuase I work there, but I would rate Pinnacle higher, just becuase our union stood strong when our management tried to get continental flying but would only allow 50 people to transfer and the rest would be street hires. They also were faced with negotiatons where we were told we would lose all of our business without a contract and now we are gaining business with out a contract and we have a new ASA without a contract. We are not dropping the ball with our contract, there will be no creation of a second airline like go jets, we will get QOL improvements and pay raises and new business in 2007

Yeah, I'll be that guy. You don't need the freaking apostrophes in your thread title. It reads, "Winner is and loser is...," as written.

XJET

I've been a loyal customer for years (since the early 90s). Excellent airline - good employees and professional crews.

I think it's safe to say we have all settled for less than we should have... Sadly, management is the only winner...again

Here's to a safe 2007...

Default And one more thing

I guess with that being said... We all lost, but...

Mesa/Freedom/Go/AirMidwest is the biggest loser of 2006. Each and everyone of you needs to quit and make JO's fairy tale end! I promise you'll be much happier elsewhere.

Oh yeah and GoJet... you guys will get what's coming to you... not by other companies or pilots, but from your beloved Hulas...
As I said before... why would you commit to a girl who cheated on her husband with you?

Here's to the bitter and sour taste of that once sweet KoolAid... cheers!

1) AWAC
Air Wisconsin has lost well over 1/2 the pilot group in the last two years. The divorce rate since the 'great move east' has quadrupled according to a union rep. By and large, schedules in our biggest base (PHL) are not only low-credit, but uncommutable. Our crew scheduling manager refuses to approve trip trade and add requests because of "Maintain RSV Coverage" (WTF does that have to do with adding or trading a trip )

Oh yeah, our insurance rates for 2007 nearly doubled.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy my job and have been treated well by the company...but its not all sunshine & flowers here.

AWAC lost the midwest flying on their own turf. There may have been extenuating circumstances but I think the pilot group really needed that flying. I think this occurence disqualifies them from from being near the top.

XJT gets the award for keeping the Koolaid flowing even with a potentially grim future.

Skywest is managing to become more like Mesa everyday. Still has a great contract, but also still paying $19/hr!?!?! Pilots haven't gotten a real raise in years despite the company's profitability. Again, the koolaid floweth and in actuality its still one of the best.

I think Horizon is the only airline on the list that deserves any recognition

The biggest loser in 2006?

Independence Air. Ceased operations on January 5th, exactly one year ago today.

Total of about 6500 employees at it's largest point....

4) AMR

In second place we have your : SKYWEST,
AMR ahead of skywest in the employee-******ing department?

Mandatory junior manning is common at Eagle and is getting worse (I hear) with the attrition problem over the last year. They don't pay you for ready reserve time (if I remember correctly) and only half credit for deadheads. They make you pay to non-rev for five years. Pay is comparable (worse in some cases, better in some cases) than Skywest, but quality of life is *much* worse at Eagle. Just ask any of the dozens of Eagle pilots at skywest now (and no, it wasn't just about chasing an upgrade).

There's definately things I'd like to see change at Skywest, but the level of screwing that goes on here relative to at Eagle is miniscule. I'm not afraid to pick up my phone, I'm not paying $150 a month to commute, I'm not getting paid 75hrs a month for flying 70 and sitting another 30 of ready reserve.
