It's like that Seinfeld episode where Jerry wants to return the blazer for spite. "I don't think you can return an item for spite, sir."

Why would any company want to just "throw away" a part of their assets? What does make sense to me is having Comair emerge from bankruptcy with a lower cost structure and then sell it.

I'm sorry sir you just can't close an airline for spite.

Not spite, just Skywest & others are willing to fly the jets for less, not to mention you can put all of the support staff (management, ops, maint, training) off the Delta payroll.

Creditors like that.

Delta said it would strip Comair of its 12 70-seat jets and let contractor SkyWest operate them next spring

The airplane that skywest were part of the Deal when delta sold ASA.. so contract or no contract with Comair we were going to loose the airplanes anyway..

all we can do is Guess but if anyone of you have a Crystal Ball let me know I need to know the Lotto numbers for the next Draw..

I'm confused. They seem to be hiring a ton right now. Or at least plan to. There seems to be a very real possibilty that Comair is going to lose some massive airplanes when Delta makes their announcement. Anyone think they will be cancelling classes, furloughing, etc? I know they are trying to cover attrition but I would think losing aircraft would significantly reduce their need for pilots perhaps to the point of furloughing pilots on line now.

Thanks. No, I'm not there (yet). Couple more weeks. Despite everything, I'm pretty excited about training!

Anyone going to Comair right now should be realistic enough to see that it will be stagnant for a long time.

It's a shame what happened to comair, they set the standard for a good regional contract, and now they're getting penalized for it.

Sanchez do you work for Comair NO.. you dont have a clue about whats happening here right now or our plans for the Future... If you work for expressjet I would worry about what the plans are for the 69 or so airplanes you cant use for Continental Flying, I dont have a clue about expressjet and will not spread gloom and doom about your company, truth of the matter is All the regional airlines have their own issues hell even continentinental will have its issues when the contract come up for renewal, I didnt know that a new hire pilot had to wait 6 months at Continental before Health Insurance coverage begins, My point being is ALL airlines have their Issues and Unless you are Here at Comair please dont ASS U ME anything....
